Bardena Ross - Interview
In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Emo Punk/Post-Hardcore/Rock band Bardena Ross from France, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Clément: I didn't want to have something too literal. I thought it as a character with a first name and a last name : "Bardenas" is a spanish desert and "Ross" is a frozen sea in Antarctic. I let everyone make his own interpretation.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Clément: I don't even know if we play a specific genre… I guess we're growing older and we didn't want to be stuck with genres or codes. We like punch and melody from the punk as much as intensity in the hardcore, so we mix it up. We also both like ambient parts, so we are maybe in the alternative too…
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Clément: We almost started music together ten years ago in a band called Delightful Spleen. Back then, I used to play bass!
Kevin: We are old friends now, that's why it was important for us to make music together
4. Each band member favourite band?
Clément: We both love As Cities Burn, Underoath, Comeback Kid and Alexisonfire! More recently, we also like Aviator, Defeater, Idlehands and Counterparts. Otherwise, Kevin is more into metal like Misery Signals and I'm more into alternative like Brand New or Thrice.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Clément: For my part I like to write about duality of feelings. Sometimes, it's more spiritual but almost always in an abstract way, we're not a religious band or something like that.
Kevin: When I start composing I just play around my favorite chords and try new things in order to stay original otherwise I will write the same songs over and over again...
6. Where was your last gig?
Clément: At the moment, Bardena Ross is only a studio project but it could become live very soon.
7. Where would you like to act?
Clément: Everywhere if people want to see us!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Kevin: Mostly all the artists we love. It would be an honor to hear what can Spencer Chamberlain (Underoath) or Cody Bonnette (As Cities Burn) do on one of our songs. These singers have a very powerful way of singing, it’s raw and full of emotions. They are very inspiring.
9. Whom not?
Kevin: I will speak for myself but any guitarist from the band we love, because he will play guitar way better than me. It’s a question of self esteem :D
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Kevin: I guess I suffered from stage fright at my first show ever (about 11 years ago). I was so stressed I plugged my gear in the wrong way. No sound was getting out of my amp for the first seconds of the show. Hahaha. Two years ago I toured Japan with my old band Can’t Bear This Party and all the Japanese bands were kicking asses, we were not frightened of playing after them, but just shameful they were so good compared to us !
There is no magic to fight stage fright, just be prepared, check your gears BEFORE the show, double check everything and concentrate to the moment and just enjoy !
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Kevin: If I had to chose 4 I would say Underoath, As Cities Burn, Defeater and Comeback Kid. The guitar parts are amazing and the vocals make the music sound perfect.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Kevin: When I toured Indonesia a guy wanted my T-Shirt after a gig, not my band’s merch but my personnal T-Shirt. I was all sweaty so it was pretty weird….
13. What do you think of your fans?
Kevin: Bardena Ross being a brand new band, we do not have many fans yet. But I guess they are pretty amazing ;)
14. What do you think of our site?
Kevin: The web design is clear and it’s easy to find the information you need so good job! I hope you guys will make more reviews because they’re only a few for the moment !
