False Plaintiff - Interview
In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Melodic Hardcore band False Plaintiff from Singapore, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
When the band was formed, Brandon was engulfed in his interests in Media Law while he was in college. With all that, he proposed to us the word Plaintiff. Which was a law term for charging someone in court and with much discussion we decided to come up with False Plaintiff. As with life, we feel that many a time we are falsely accused of something and we try our best to stand up for ourselves so decided to run with it.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
All the band members were very into the whole melodic hardcore, indie, pop punk culture of music and we had a wide variety of genres of music that we listened to. But To be honest, we ourselves don't really know what genre we can label our music as. In many previous interviews, we were asked as to what genre our music was as many people wondered due to the difference in structure in the song for every previous release. We would say that this is so as to the fore-mentioned reason. While writing the previous releases, we each put in our own input as to what we thought would sound awesome at each riff which resulted in a mesh of post-rock,indie, pop punk ish, experimental music if you wanted to label it as something.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes we did. Before the band was formed, all of us were friends for at least a year. So we knew each other pretty well before the band was formed. This made it easy when being together and writing as a band as we had that personal connection beyond just a professional relationship.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Brandon (Vocals) - La Dispute
Nicholas (Guitar) - Chon
Sydney (Drums) - Texas In July
Bryner (Guitar) - The Getaway Plan
Jonathan (Bass) - Pianos Become The Teeth
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We feel like as a band when it comes to writing music, we take alot out of our own life experiences and what we try to potray to the listener is that 'Life sucks, its never going to be easy but just accept that fact and you can move on".
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was in Singapore and the bar called Tab. We were the opening act for the post-rock band Sleepmakeswaves from Sydney Australia.
7. Where would you like to act?
We are currently in the midst of planning to play a couple of shows in perth next month with some of our friends bands from there like Idle Eyes, but we definitely would like to tour Europe and Southeast Asia sometime soon.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
The top on our list would be to have a feature with La Dispute one of our main idols. To add on to that, we are also looking into doing collaborations with a brass or string quintet including some of our Post-Rock Idols like "and so i watch you from afar". 10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? - Yes we do, all of us! Its never easy to beat the stage fright you have when you are just about to play. However we can safely say that once that first riff is played and you get comfortable with the stage, the nerves definitely melt away and you'll have an awesome set. And from personal experience here is a Quote from our guitarist Bryner "Just puke it out!".
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
When we formed, our main inspirations where bands such as 'Touche Amore', 'Ladispute', 'More Than life' and 'The Cold Harbour'. You can tell from our previous releases, how Brandon's style of singing and the guitar writing leaned towards something similar to that genre. However, as the bands we all listened to are always changing, you can expect something totally different in the release of our upcoming album later this year. 12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? I guess we have not had any weird requests from fans in the past 3 years as a band.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our Fans in Singapore are awesome. No matter what show, its always a crazy and sweaty time. The mic grabs are crazy. Eventhough, we have been inactive for almost 3 months as we have been writing and recording our new album. We still see support on twitter and facebook and even catching a fan or two around the City repping our merchandise. We even had some fans print their own designed False Plaintiff stickers and giving them away at shows which was really something that touched our hearts. As Singapore is small, it is such a close knit local music scene and we have received tremendous amounts of support from the fans for our music and what we believe in as a band.
14. What do you think of our site?
Breathing Core seems like an awesome gateway for people to look into new bands and music. Besides this, fans can get upclose and personal with their favourite bands by reading interviews and etc. It also serves as a good platform for up and coming bands to showcase their releases. Keep on doing what you do and supporting the music scene!
