Athena´s Word - Interview

In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Melodic Hardcore band Athena´s Word from Netherlands, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Dennis came up with the name while he was playing Gears Of War. He got lost in his thoughts and when he came back the name “Athena’s Word” was on his mind, and he wanted to save that name for his next band.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We play this genre because it’s the genre we all love it and our favorite artists make this kind of music as well. We like music to be heavy so we can get wild on stage and get the crowd moving. We also love to put feelings into this heavy music, and that’s why we have so many leads in our songs.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jerry knew Dennis from class, and Tjerk met Dennis at a While She Sleeps concert before. Erik and Kasper joined later.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Erik- Hatebreed, Cancer Bats, While She Sleeps

Dennis- Ed Sheeran, While She Sleeps, Blood Youth

Tjerk- While She Sleeps, Lock & Key, Ben Howard

Kasper- Devin Townsend Project, Wintersun, Nightwish

Jerry- Counterparts, Heights, While She Sleeps.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our biggest inspiration are our feelings for writing songs and lyrics. Sometimes we do hear a song and thinks it’s very cool. Then we try our best to make a song at least as cool as the one we’ve heard with our own sound

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was Sunday the 4th of October in Hamburg.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to play a show in someone’s backyard, or at a pool party. But our biggest dream is touring in the UK!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be a dream for us to have Mat or Loz from While She Sleeps in one of our songs. But we also would love to work with Our Last Night, Blood Youth, Napoleon and In Archives

9. Whom not?

We don’t know anybody we don’t want to work with. We are all musicians and we all love to play. We don’t see being in a band as a competition, we’re all in the same boat chasing our dreams. And we would love to help everyone!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

The first few shows we’ve experienced some stage fright because we didn’t want to mess up. But the stage fright gets less every show. Our tips are: Go to the toilet before the show, make sure your gear is okay, empty your pockets, have a good soundcheck, and then just give it all you’ve got!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The bands that inspired us the most are While She Sleeps, Napoleon, Heights and Blood Youth.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

There was this guy in Hannover who asked us if he could buy Erik’s sweaty shirt after a show. It wasn’t even our merch, but Erik sold it anyway.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love every single one of them. It’s unreal for us to see that people know our songs and lyrics. We still can barely believe that people are real fans of us, it’s to good to be true.

14. What do you think of our site?

We think it’s very clear. You can find everything what you might be looking for. The Wordpress site looks  bit plain, but the official site looks sick!
