In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore/Melodic Hardcore band Chiefland  from Germany, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

That’s a funny story. The initial idea came from our guitar player Achim who saw a random diner named "Chiefland“ in the Swedish countryside while being on vacation. As nature has always been a great inspiration throughout the writing of our music, it made sense to choose a name that is so tightly linked to a certain landscape and its beauty.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

It’s just powerful! You can get across raw emotions and tell your very personal stories. Also, we like to keep the melody alive and try to write dynamic songs which are interesting to listen to. As far as the lyrics are concerned, each of our songs has its own story to tell. The songs on our EP "To Part Means To Die A Little“ deal with the escape from day-to-day routines, loss and new beginnings.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

A few of us knew each other before from different bands. Corwin (vocals) has been the newest addition, we met him through social media. It turned out that he was exactly the guy we needed to complete the line-up.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Only one? That’s a tough question then, but let’s give it a try. We should just do this as a list. At the moment it probably looks like this:

Achim (guitar): My Iron Lung

Christian (drums): Touché Amoré

Corwin (vocals): Alexisonfire

Niki (bass): Being as an Ocean

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Nature, things that happen to us and our friends, universal things we all experience, music we love and a lot of subconscious stuff that you can’t really make out. It’s hard to put it in words, but some ideas, riffs or lines just pop up and if you like them, you stick with them. Recently, a friend told us that our songs sound a bit dark, so there was probably some sadness and frustration involved when we wrote them.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in Göttingen, Germany. We had the chance to support Anchor and Hollow Earth on their European tour, which was great fun. Check them out if you haven’t yet!

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d like to play a couple of shows around Germany for the rest of the year and maybe we can play some other European countries in 2016, too.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We haven’t really thought about that, but as far as playing shows is concerned we’d definitely like to share the stage with as many hardcore bands as possible, both national and international. Maybe there’s gonna be a split record evolving at some point if we stay in touch with a particular group and become close friends. Let’s see what the future brings!

9. Whom not?

Uhm. Nickelback? Maybe?

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

None of us so far, but it’s quite natural to be a bit nervous before each show. As long as you’re comfortable with yourself, the music and the situation on stage, you'll be totally fine. It helps a lot to be confident with what you do! Tell yourself that no one can play the songs like you do. You wrote the music and now you get the chance to present it to the audience. Isn’t that an amazing thing to do?

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Many bands of "The Wave“ like Defeater or Touché Amoré have had a great impact on our playing and writing, but we also have a lot of bands we look up to that doesn’t necessarily play hardcore music. There’s so much good music out there! Way too much to focus on one specific genre only.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We recently got the following question on Facebook: "Is it true that you typically reply within minutes?“. Seems like they're displaying the band’s availability when you visit their page now. Luckily for us, we were able to keep our reputation and replied shortly after we had received the message. Haha!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Although we have only been a band for a couple of months now, we have met a number people that truly support us where they can and help us spreading the word about the band. We are more than humbled and hope to make as many good friends as possible in the future!

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s great! You guys offer a lot of young bands the chance to be heard and spread their music. Thank you for that! It also comes in quite handy if you want to discover new music.

15. Something to add?

You can download our free EP "To Part Means To Die A Little“ on our Bandcamp (www.chiefland.bandcamp.com) or here on Breathing the Core. Hope to see you out there at one of our shows sometime soon!
