Delayed Departure - Interview

Delayed Departure Online Promo Shot (1)

In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band Delayed Departure  from UK, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Charlie just came up with it and it stuck, it doesn't really have any deep meanings behind it.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Well we all listen to a lot of rock music, varying rock music, which we feel is represented in our music, we all feel passionate about this genre and have all been brought up with a wealth of music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Mike, Steve, Jamie and Charlie go all the way back to school, and Ollie joined the fray at the start of the bands “professional” journey.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Charlie - Hands Like Houses

Mike - Mallory Knox

Jamie - Deaf Havana

Ollie - Enter Shikari

Steve - Blink 182

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Generally music just inspires us, we hear the new vibes going about and just knuckle down and write, lyrically its very much how the band and Mike feel in current situations and scenarios, whether its apprehension or a feeling of jubilation, it can vary.

6. Where was your last gig?

Cellar Bar Bracknell, we did a close and intimate pre EP Launch gig, packing out the quirky cellar venue, we had one of our favourite gigs so far.

7. Where would you like to act?

Most places really, “Joiners” Southampton would be good, an O2 Academy, and one day getting to Reading and Leeds festival’s respectively, we like to have big aspirations haha

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Trenton Woodley from Hands like houses would top the list, we know Mike would love to share the stage with Trenton, Brent Smith, Mikey Chapman or Jonny Craig.

9. Whom not?

Personally we are all up for anything, so there really isn't anyone who we wouldn't want to feature with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Charlie: Back when we first started gigging late 2013 early 2014, I used to get so nervous, the first 3 songs I would hate just purely because that's your kinda window to get the crowd going and interested, best thing to do, focus on your playing, if you sound good that's the main thing, if needs be, focus on a random face in the audience as your kinda grounding point with the crowd, while also trying not to stare and look creepy haha. Don’t be afraid to smile and look at your band mates, have a good time, if the band are enjoying it and moving about, the crowd will eventually do the same.

Mike: As Charlie has said its about getting past that initial fear of “How are we going to sound?” or as a vocalist “Is my voice fully prepared?”, I always make sure to drink plenty of fluids and do my vocal warm ups before gigs a long with a tea spoon of honey, it will fill you with more confidence knowing that you have properly set up your voice if you like. Just remember the crowd are there to see you and will be mesmerised from the get go if you can keep spirits high and act like professionals.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Hands Like Houses, Deaf Havana, Paramore and Mallory Knox would probably be the frontrunners in who we have really idolised from the start.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Charlie: A guy a year or so back came up to us and asked us to sign his bum, the whole band did it but mike wasn't there so Jamie just wrote mike in huge letters with a sharpie.

Mike: As nicely as possible, I'm glad I wasn't!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We are so grateful for having fans which enjoy what we play and write, we love it when we hear that people have a connection to our music, or lyrics, it's humbling to know our fans can relate to what we go through on a daily, weekly and annual basis.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's clean cut, smooth navigation and a fully functional mobile version as well which is always a bonus for mobile users, great articles and an all round sick website.
