Interviews: The Tumor Called Marla

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

We all love the movie Fight Club. It's a cameo for that. “If I had a tumor, I’d named it Marla. Marla…the little scratch on the roof of your mouth that would heal if only you could stop tonguing it, but you can’t. “

2.Why did you want to play this genre?  

The genre we play is really popular nowadays, but we didn’t choose it because of the trends. We feel it close to us, it’s comes from the bottom of our hearts and we enjoy playing it. That’s why. We are trying to do something unique by the way.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

Roland: I didn't know anyone. I was a newbie. But when i saw the guys and Anna... hmmm... i fell in love with the guys at first sight.

Krisztián: I know Anna and Hekky for a long time, we also used to play together eariler.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Roland: Machine Head, Tiesto  Krisztián: Slipknot, Bring me the Horizon

Attila: Animals as Leaders, Architects, Tesseract

Hekky: No favourite, I love all of them.

Geri: Karnivool

Anna: The Glitch Mob

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?  

Attila: Tosin Abasi, Victor Wooten or Larry Graham.

Hekky: Every time it's different. Mostly very weird stuffs, feelings and atmospheres. I have no role model.

6. Where was your last gig?

Funny, but we didn’t have a gig yet! The first will be held on October 24 in Tatabánya, Hungary with the band Leander Rising, but the real debut show’s gonna be on November 6th . We’re gonna kick some ass, I promise, everyone’s gonna feel like they had a massive brainwash or something.

7. Where would you like to act?  

Everywhere

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

With Nicki Minaj. With enormous butts everywhere.

9. Whom not?  

With hungarian clebrities, and Justin Bieber. But the list is too long...

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?  

Take a deep breath, relax and believe you can do it. Do whatever makes you feel secure or calms you down, like meditation for instance. I always have my moments before getting on stage, having a hot bath, getting my hair and makeup ready, relaxing, etc. Take your time and enjoy the show!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?  

Attila: I used to listen Avenged Sevenfold from they second album Waking the Fallen and Synyter Gates's game on those schecters always amazed me and made me love the solo stuff.

Hekky: NIN, Tool, Slipknot, Deftones, Queens of the Stone Age

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

Anna: My hand! HAHA! And once an old lady asked for an autograph and told me she knew every song we played once at an outdoor concert with my first band.

Geri: When i had dreadlocks a girl wanted to cut off one of them to put it on her room's wall.

13. What do you think of your fans?  

If someone is a TTCM fan, it means that he or she understands our thoughts, our souls, the vibes and feelings we’d like to share. That’s a great thing!
