Audio Impulse - Interview
In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band Audio Impulse from USA, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The honest truth behind the name, Audio Impulse, is that it was initially going to be a reference to the classic JRPG Chrono Trigger, we can be huge video game nerds, as Arc Impulse, but after a quick search the web we discovered that was taken. Thus Audio Impulse came to be the name.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
More or less it’s the genre we listened to growing up and we feel as though we have something to add to it.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
3 of the 4 of us did, Nate, Barry, and Pat, our drummer Freeman was a Craiglist find, but became a fast friend.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Barry: Smashing Pumpkins
Nate: 311
Freeman: Rise Against
Pat: Thrice
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life in general is usually the biggest influence on our writing whether it’s from a major life events or the day to day grind I think our emotional state while writing shines through the songs and thusly the songs become a way for us to work through life. Another huge inspiration, and it might be a bit cliché, but music itself, the love of it, and the artistry.
6. Where was your last gig?
We’re going to cheat here, as I’m writing the true last gig was an acoustic set at the Dewey Beach Music Conference 2015, but we’re about to rock a full band performance at Connie’s Ric Rac tonight for Gashouse Radio’s #FirstFriday feature showcase.
7. Where would you like to act?
Locally we’d love to get into either the Electric Factory or The Fillmore right here in Philly. On a broader scale Red Rocks, Wimbledon Stadium, Madison Square Garden, etc. would be absolutely surreal.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
The two bands that came up unanimously across us all were Jimmy Eat World and/or The Foo Fighters, but there are so many more from our own personal favorites to the bands that got us to pick up an instrument to begin with would obviously be an honor to perform with.
9. Whom not?
Haha, we’ll plead the fifth here. Don’t want alienate anyone who would be willing to work w/ us just by us saying so.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Yea all four of us have to battle a certain sense of stage fright. I think it comes naturally and show a real, genuine love of the music you’re putting out there to feel nervous anytime you play it publicly. We find the best way to beat that is to just go out and do it. Once you play that first note, you hit that first hook, and by the time the first song is over you’ve won and the rest of the set will fall into place, and never forget YOU’RE the one on the stage and that’s so much more than so many people could ever accomplish to just get up there and be in that vulnerable of a place. That crowd is there to see you.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
It’s different for all of us, Nate, our lead guitarist, said Incubus, The Mars Volta, At the Drive In, and the Foo Fighters. Barry, our lead vocalist and 2nd guitar player, says Black Sabbath, The White Stripes, Led Zeppelin, and Brand New. Pat, our bassist, inspiration draws from Muse, Thrice, The Apex Theory, and Tegan & Sara. Freeman, our drummer, has been inspired by The Wonder Years, My Chemical Romance, and Fall Out Boy.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Unfortunately, or maybe it’s for the best, but we haven’t been asked for anything too out of the ordinary.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are the driving force behind us, the fuel to our fire. As much as we’d still be playing music w/o them, they are, and will be the reason, we strive to be better musicians and write better songs and keep our material fresh. They’ve been really great to us and we’re forever indebted to them for their loyalty and support. They’ve been the best.
14. What do you think of our site?
Any site willing to feature unsigned, independent bands on such a large scale is just a huge boon to the scene and culture of new and independent bands, so I think the fantastic. It’s easily accessible to find a featured act if you’re looking specifically, there’s genre and regional breakdowns. It’s truly a great site, big thanks for that!
15. Something to add?
Right now we’re really excited to be working on our second studio release, entitled Straight Shot, which will be out Jan. 23rd 2016, which is the follow-up to our full length, currently out now, Plug In & Tune Out. We’ll have a music video out by mid-December of this year for the title track of the EP and that’s a project we’re amped to see in its completion. Thanks again for this feature! This has been a real fun interview to go through, hope you’ll have us back!
