Campfires - Interview

In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Pop Punk band Campfires from UK, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

Mike actually came up with it during our writing of the EP. Based loosely on the idea of the similarity between telling stories round a camp fire with your mates, and singing/playing songs that mean something from life experience, in a band with your mates!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?  

Our sound grew out of and matured from our previous band. Our drummer James & guitarist Napz, began writing and creating ideas for songs a few years after our old band had ended. Then once Mike, Yogi and finally Craig all joined, the sound had moulded itself into this genre we guess!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

Yeah we did! James, Napz & Mike had all played together in a band called Autumn In Disguise a few years ago. Yogi was a friend back then, who actually came along on tour to help sell merch and party with us! And some of us knew Craig, who finally came in and joined us on bass.

4. Each band member favourite band?  

James: Blink 182.

Napz:  Doesn't have one but enjoying albums from Prvis and Wstr just now.

Yogi: Right now, Wstr, Knuckle Puck & The Wonder Years.

Craig: Biffy Clyro or Fatherson

Mike: Don't have a favourite but at the moment, loving Knuckle Puck and Citizen.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?  

We would say the music is definitely inspired by the bands we all listen to and grew up with. A good mix of older Pop Punk/Indie bands, thrown in together with new bands coming out today! The lyrics, are definitely written from life experiences but with the view that anyone can relate to them.

6. Where was your last gig?  

This is the start! Our first show is in our hometown, in a tiny venue for a good old fashioned sweat feast pop punk show!

7. Where would you like to act?  

We would love to play our music to as many people and places as possible! It would be great to one day play in Europe or in the States!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?  

It would be cool to one day play with people who influenced us growing up and bands who inspired us to write music. But for now, I think we would be happy to play alongside any cool bands that we would fit on a bill with!

9. Whom not?  

Any X factor rubbish!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?  

Yogi, apparently does all the time! Which is worrying as we are still to play a proper live show with him still! haha! But as soon as he starts playing then he overcomes it! Tips for beginners on how to beat that would be - lots and lots of practise till you know your set inside out, then you can relax and enjoy yourself!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?  

I think bands who have inspired us would be probably be bands we grew up listening to like Blink 182, New Found Glory, Boxcar racer but also some newer Pop Punk bands going out and kicking ass right now like The Story So Far, Knuckle Puck, The Wonder Years & State Champs.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

Not sure what about being asked for something but once someone brought us Irn Bru, Pork Pies and...a tin of beans to a show!

13. What do you think of your fans?  

When people make the effort to listen, buy and share our music, it means the world.  We have a lot of respect for anyone who enjoys the music we make and what we do.

It's awesome and great for finding new bands! Good work guys!
