Interviews: Clouds Of Chaos

In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore/Metalcore band Clouds Of Chaos from Hungary, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

[Aa]: The idea came from me. I had a some bands and sometimes I have a brain-fuck and wrote some ideas. In the past I already had several ideas in advance. So this name was my best (I think) band name idea ever. When everybody ask us what is our band name, I just drop in collective, and ask the band members: is it taste like our music? And when we try all of the stupid punk ideas like: 'bread with butter', 'then we agree', so right now, this is the best idea all of them.

[Zs]: Aaron came up with this name, and we thought this will be good.

[Z]: It's just a result of a brainstorm, back in the day, it seemed to be the best all out of the wrong ideas, and now we just got used to it I think( Sorry Archie :D).

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

[Aa]: Our genre is not like our band name. we play in it, because it suits us.

[Zs]: We mostly listen to this kind of music.

[Z]: We want to collect and combine those elements from our favorite genres what makes us shiver, and sometimes trying to make for listeners challenging to understand the songs, because the more you hear it, the more you can hear out the little interesting bits, that gives you goosebumps from time to time.

[R2]: It’s kind of interesting, we have a lot of space and freedom in this genre, we can try various things and sounds.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

[Aa]: Our love story told by everybody, twice so I just say we are very lucky. In the right place, in the right time.

[Z]: R2 and me attended the same high school, but we didn’t know each other back then, we became friends during our university years, with living on the same dormitory floor, I’ve met Archie in the university stork camp in ‘12, and he introduced me to Zs.

[R2]: We studied the same secondary school with Z but never met or knew each other. Deep in my heart, I knew Aaron because we’re not just namesakes, we have to be soulmates and share everything.

[Zs]: I only knew Aaron (our badass bassist), and after we started practicing, and trying to make something serious, I met Z (by Aa). And last year we got R2 in the band. So guys….This is the story how I met my band. :D

4. Each band member favourite band?

[Aa]: I listen many kind of music, like: jazz, post-rock, post-metal, metalcore, classic, triphop so I haven’t got the very favourite band. I just have a band for each emotion status.

[R2]: Have a tons of them, but if I have to choose one then it’s a Hungarian band Subscribe.

[Z]: For me, there’s no favorite band anymore thanks to the analyzing perspective of me when it comes to music, used to be a die-hard Slipknot fan, but grew it out.

[Zs]: Maybe Avenged Sevenfold, August Burns Red, and Parkway Drive, the band hopefully goes to their Budapest gig in february.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

[Z]: Usually the spirit is the untold/stunning feelings, sometimes the anger I feel from people and situations of everyday life, but try to leave out of the creation as a factor.

[R2]: Life and people and the feelings they effect me.

[Aa]: My inspiration is very simple. I love write music, and I love create. Every each riff to become a big song is my hobby. I am a programmer, so the creation is my life. Yes I have a lots of anger, and the daily routine is killing us, so when I write song that are would surface.

6. Where was your last gig?

[Z]: Hometown, headquarters,  (Urban Rock Club), half of our gigs so far were there, it’s like an altar for us in my opinion, I like it the most.

7. Where would you like to act?

[Aa]: In Budapest in Dürer Kert. It’s a big metal Mecca. I love it, but I really want to a little tour in our nearby countries.

[R2]: Where we’re welcomed with willingly(allilteration fuck yeah).

[Zs]: All the places, where we can get beer.

[Z]: A tour through Hungary would be nice but I think A38 (a Budapest club ship on the Danube) would be the dream gig, for me at least.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

[Zs]: I glad the fact that I can play with the guys without make a mistake, which is so frequent. So I wouldn't feature with any other band.

[Z]: I’m not going to specify and drummers, because if I had the chance to play with these guys, then I’ll want to sit behind the drums, so the guitarists: Paul Gilbert, Guthrie Govan, Aaron Marshall, Les Claypool, Buckethead, Joe Satriani, Mark Holcomb, Deron Miller and there’s a lot of them, basically everyone who inspired me somewhat.

[Aa]: I don't have any big dreams. I just want to play a lot of gigs.

[R2]: Whom i have the same thoughts or visualization about music. I think I couldn't play with any of my music heroes because would fail every note during playing even the easiest chord.

9. Whom not?

[R]: Axl Rose, Yngwie Malmsteen, Z on Speed (extra tempo).

[Z]: Thanks...On my side, any of the by MTV far-fetched, profit-oriented, heartless performers.

[Aa]: Same that Z stated.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

[Zs]: Yes, as every beginner.

[Aa]: I think the most important thing is to love what you play. If you don’t feel the rock or metal or what else, then you will hate the gig, the stage, and people too. When you can understand what is your band’s message, then everything will be, so clearly So three words: emotion, improvise, emotion. That’s all. Of course I practice a lot when our band practices. Practice feels on the music…it’s hard. So when you can feel your music and you can improvise, then you will not afraid from the stage... so much. *laugh*

[Z]: We are still amateurs, had been performing only for like a year, but I can say that be sure about your instrument and your music so you can trust yourself, and don’t be afraid to take the time setting up your monitor perfectly, that can be a huge turn-off if you can’t hear all the guitars and drums well enough. // Zs has still stage fright, especially when he screams in one of our songs :D

[R2]: Of course. My technique is to start playing before it even comes to my mind to panic.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

[Aa]: In old days I listened to a lot of Limp Bizkit. I loved nu-metal, but nowadays I moved to post-rock and post-metal genre, so these genres inspire me a lot. It’s so emotional and there is no verse or refrain, there is a big thought, what the band dissects. So my big break after metalcore and post-hardcore (but I still love and listening it) was Mogway.

[Zs]: August Burns Red, Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, The Unguided.

[R2]: Guns And Roses, ACDC, Metallica are my biggest inspirations.

[Z]: Slipknot (cannot get past by Joey Jordison), Avenged Sevenfold, Periphery, Sonata Arctica, CKY, Megadeth, Fear Factory, Killswitch Engage, Bullet for my Valentine, Hammerfall, so far, and not in chronological order.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

[Aa]: To play Nirvana when we try to put our stuffs on the stage - you guess which one( Z) -. We never played Nirvana, and we can’t play any tribute. So that was very awkward. Than in the end, he said: “If you don't know any Nirvana songs, then play Metallica.” We didn’t say anything, just ordered our beer.

[R2]: To write on HIS ass my signature.

13. What do you think of your fans?

[R2]: They’re loyal, but have to expand.

[Aa]: We don't have a big group of fans, but we have good friends and girlfriends, for example mine. And there are some fans whom I am really thankful for coming more often to our gigs.

[Z]: Small, but kind and patient company, growing slowly but steadily.

[Zs]: I appreciate their support, and their encouragement.

14. What do you think of our site?

[R2]: It has a lot of opportunities and offers a lot, and helps bands to get known.

[Aa]: I never heard of you guys, but when I saw that genre link: “nintendocore”, you really got me. Awesome, so much genre, this is will be my new music searching tool.

[Z]: In my opinion, it's a very nice initiative, it is always good find a website full of interesting and promising bands, most of the mobile applications are inaccurate if you want to surf on a specific genre, and will never do as good research job as a human being. So thanks in advance, we might find several new bands we are going to love.

15. Something to add?

[R2]: Thanks for the opportunity!

[Zs]: Yeah! Thank you! It was our first international interview.

[Z]: We are planning to upload animated graphic supported videos to YouTube for our songs in the coming days, trying to make gigs in the other parts of Hungary, and advertise us on a non-bugging level.

[Aa]: Yep, keep be awesome! Thanks for the interview!
