Descent Of The Ancient - Interview
In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Progressive Deathcore/Death Metal band Descent Of The Ancient from Panama, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The band at first started with the composition of the music before we actually had a name. One day we just said "Hey, we kinda need a name." So, one day, Arturo and Paul started looking for badass names that could fit in with the band. Several names lead to different ideas and the conclusion was "Descent of the Ancient". Besides, we feel like there's more depth to it. Like, We'd like to think that the name sounds like eldritch Lovecraftian aliens descending onto Earth but, on the other hand, it also sounds like old people falling down.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Truth be told, we didn't even plan it to be progressive deathcore or technical deathmetal. Arturo told Paul to compose deathcore (Paul being a brutal deathmetal fan) and what came out is right there in our first EP. P.s. Juan Diego says it's fun and challenging.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes. Arturo and Paul, being friends and both having seperate bands, both decided to start a band together. Later on, Paul's friend, Juan Diego, joined the band, giving it a new and improved groove.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Arturo Coronado: Whitechapel & War From A Harlots Mouth
Paul Steenhuisen: War From A Harlots Mouth, Chon, Gretchen Parlato, Infant Annihilator & Meshuggah
Juan Diego de Obarrio: Periphery, Meshuggah, Dream Theater & Opeth.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Arturo: "I want to make music which expresses the way I feel towards the scum within humanity."
Paul: "To push myself to the limits of my own creativity and melt peoples faces off."
Juan Diego: "I feel like all kinds of metal could come to inspire me in some way. I'd say proggressive rock and metal in general are a big constant. Some videogame soundtrack composers also thrown in for some good measure."
6. Where was your last gig?
Last time we played was around May or June of 2015 in Hangar18, Panama City.
7. Where would you like to act?
All over the world if we could.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
This is a tough one' Phil Bozeman, Elliot Coleman (for some smooth part maybe).
9. Whom not?
Taylor Swift.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Suffered, no. Tips: drink a bit, have fun at the show, support the metal scene and become friends with as many people in it as you can, hehe.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
War From A Harlots Mouth, (early) Whitechapel, Meshuggah, Dream Theater and jazz in general.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
The most random thing that has happened to us up until now would have to be the fact that from time to time, each of us have a fan which seems to want to hit on us, which can come to be pretty cool or pretty awkward.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are the most beautiful people.. and most insane aswell.
14. What do you think of our site?
Breathing The Core is pretty badass. We need more people supporting metal in general so it made us really glad to know that we were recognized by supporters of our music and all other metal music. We thank Breathing The Core for being awesome!
15. Something to add?
You should all expect a lot more to come from Descent of the Ancient. We plan on making a lot of new and different music and we don't plan on stopping, so, keep your eyes open and your ears ready for more heavy shit!
