In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Melodic Hardcore/Post-Hardcore band Monterrey from USA, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?

Well, Steve's whole family came from Monterrey, Mexico and it was also the name of the street that Jack grew up on. Monterrey kinda took on the meaning of 'home' for us.

2. Why do you play this genre?

Honestly we kinda just fell into this genre. We all have different tastes in music, and when it all came together it just turned out to be this. We aren't forcing anything and that's really nice.

3. Did you know each other before this band?

We all knew of each other from the previous bands that we had played in, since we're all from the same area.

4. Each members favorite band?

Steve: Bayside, Superheaven, Brand New, and Dinosaur Jr.

Jack: It’s hard to pick a favorite but the bands that got me into this type of music “scene” in high school are Have Heart, Four Year Strong, and Silverstein.

Austen: The Wonder Years, Joyce Manor, Kind Of Like Spitting, & Dowsing.

Erik: Silverstein, ttng, Ghost Of A Dead Hummingbird, & Hotel Books.

5. Who or what inspires you to play music?

Steve: Honestly, life. Life inspires me to write songs because it's a form of therapy to deal or kind of process what the hell is going on. Like with the song “Intricate,” it's about my view and how I kind of see my depression. Most of the time it's hard for me to express the way I feel or why I feel that way, but in a song it just makes it easier to share that.

Jack: When I started playing in bands it was just something fun to do with my friends. As I kept playing shows and writing songs I realized how much of a stress reliever it was especially when the song was about something I was struggling with. When I would play that song live I had a sort of closure with that topic. When my old band broke up is when I realized how much playing that song had helped me. So now with these songs I feel at peace with the subject matter.

Austen: Honestly so many great people have inspired me growing up that it would be hard to pick just a few.

Erik: Anyone who plays music, and the ones who really do it with heart.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was in Crown Point, IN at The Vocal Point with Foreveratlast, The Funeral Portrait, The Hell I Call Home, and Counter Theory. They are all incredible bands and one of our favorite places to play.

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere and everywhere. We just love playing and want to keep doing it.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I think we all have bands that we'd love to work with, probably too many to name.

9. Whom not?

Austen: Creed.

Jack: I would work with Creed…

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to avoid that?

Steve: It is still extremely hard for me to look people in the eyes when we play a set. I don't know if I'll ever get over that, but being in a position to be heard is an amazing feeling. Just find what makes you feel comfortable up there.

Jack: I always feel a small amount of stage fright every show but it is easy for me to deal with it when I am playing alongside my friends. I could never be a solo artist.

Austen: Honestly I don't really deal with that. I've been playing in front of people

since I was like 12. But I know it becomes easier when you're up there with your friends.

Erik: Not me personally, I'm just too stoked to play our set.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Austen: We all have different influences but I think bands like Balance and Composure, Title Fight, Touché Amore, and Basement gave us a lot of inspiration while writing.

Steve: Bayside has probably inspired me the most. The way Anthony writes his lyrics, just blow me away. There is so much passion in what he sings that you can feel it in his voice. The first time I heard them, I was so moved. They are the reason I wanted to play music in the first place.

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you?

“Can you guys play Uptown Funk?” One of our first shows was at A St. Patrick’s Day party and the people were expecting a bar band. So, needless to say, they weren’t very happy that we only covered Title Fight, and when she asked for Uptown Funk I said we could do Nirvana, but she seemed unimpressed!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We can't thank them enough, honestly. We wouldn't be anything without people to listen. We all appreciate every one of our fans for digging our tunes, coming to our shows, buying merch, hanging out, and just giving a shit about us at all. Thank you.

14. What do you think if our site?

Austen: Sick af. Thanks for the interview!

Jack: It’s awesome how you guys support so many bands and I think it is awesome that since we are like an in-between genre that we could be a part of a mainly “Hardcore” website.

15. Anything to add?

Steve: Yeah, I want to thank my mom for putting up with me and my crappy music all these years.

Jack: I would like to just say that being in this band is so humbling because for most of us we have never been in a band that people cared about. So even a little support blows my mind and I think we have gotten way more than I ever expected. So thank you all! I really appreciate it.

Austen: Shoutout to my mom. You rule, homie.

Erik: I'd just like to add that it means a lot to me personally that people take the time to see us, give us an open ear and really support us.

Thanks again for everything, and we can't wait to see where we go from here!
