Tamerlane - Interview

In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band Tamerlane from USA, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?

When we were thinking of the name we wanted something that represented where we were emotionally at the time. We had a really ridiculous name in our previous band and we wanted something that was one word and had cool meaning. We started reading some Edgar Allan Poe stories and the story of Tamerlane really nailed it on the head.

2. Why do you play this genre?

We wanted to play this genre because it is so energetic. The fans are amazing and crazy and with energy that high, it gives us such a rush. Plus we enjoy it as fans as well.

3. Did you know each other before this band?

3 of us went to high school together. Me (Travis) and Scott are cousins. Mike and Matt are cousins, and good ol Brian was our tech for our previous band.

4. Each members favorite band?

Travis: Slipknot, Attack Attack, Korn, Memphis May Fire, Issues, Bring Me the Horizon, In Hearts Wake

Matt: The Devil Wears Prada, Like Moths to Flames, Exotype

Scott: AlexisonFire, City and Colour, The Color Morale, Linking Park, Letlive

Brian: Like Moths to Flames, Issues, Of Mice & Men, Deftones

Mike: Glassjaw and Coheed and Cambria

5. Who or what inspires you to play music?

We all have different inspirations, they range from family to issues we have with things going on in the world. Music in general inspires us to write.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was our cd release show in Cupertino, California with our friends in Letter High and Six Steps North.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to play every place that is willing to have us. No matter the size or location we just want to play.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Man theres a lot of people we would like to feature. Some would be Caleb Shomo, Dallas Green, Chino Moreno, and Garret Rapp.

9. Whom not?

Someone we wouldn’t like to feature, hmm maybe William Hung, because he would make us look like amateurs.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to avoid that?

Speaking for myself, I don’t think I have ever really had stage fright. We are all pretty cool and calm before we play. We get more anxious than frightened. The advice I would give to someone who is a beginner is to go out there and give it 100%. If you mess up, you mess up its all part of it and by giving it your heart and soul they will remember that more than one tiny error.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We definitely have been inspired for years by bands like Attack Attack, Devil Wears Prada, Like Moths To Flames, The Color Morale, and Issues.

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you?

After one of our sets in Fresno, California, a fan asked our singer Scott for a pick. He tossed one out to them then they proceeded to ask for his shirt, he tells them that he needs his shirt, then the fan asks “Can I have your Soul?”

13. What do you think of your fans?

We think our fans are AMAZING. When we did our indiegogo campaign for My Enemy|My Friend we were blown away by the support. They got us to our goal within a week. Whenever we play our shows we love seeing how much our fans care about us and it always keeps us motivated.
