Under The Crows - Interview
In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Under The Crows from Belgium, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them.We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We wanted a name simple but effective with sens to stay in mind. We came with Under The Crows. This means to us being "under" big fatty bosses or corrupted politicians.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Because metalcore mixed up all what we wanted to play: Technicity, brutality, melody, epicness. (Cf. All That Remains, For Today, Killswitch Engage, Soilwork and many more).
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Rudy, Yann and I (Sam) have know each other for years. Rudy and Yannick and friends since they were 10 We met our drummer, Laurent, after our first drummer left the band. And through him we met Quentin, who recently joined the band. From his arrival, the links beetween us are stronger than ever. Quentin and Laurent are best friend for years and we can feel it when they're playing.
4. Each band member favourite band?
For Rudy it's System Of A Down, for Yannick Mindless Self Indulgence, for Laurent it's In Hearts Wake and Quentin and I are big thrash metal fans. Even if my favourite band is X-Japan.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Actually, for Rudy it's what's going on in the world right now, he prefers to write lyrics "with sens" not about his last crush on a girl. While I write depending on my feelings on the instant.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was in our hometown, Liège, for the 6k fest with Silent PLanet has headliners.
7. Where would you like to act?
For all of us, our first big step into the professional world would be to play any Graspop Metal Meeting stage. Out of that, US for Yann, the Tokyo Dome for me (Sam), and all around the world for Rudy, into big and lil' places to meet as much people as possible
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
As many bands as possible, to learn from them and grow from their experience. Cause if we had to name them, it would be too damn long!
9. Whom not?
Any band who's not open minded, who has a kind of tunnel vision about music.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Some of us yes. I think it has never really been my case, I first played when I was like 13 and beginning the guitar, but I was into my world so, I stayed into it and played. That's the first step to be "cool" on stage, be into "the zone" after what, you just have to have fun! If it's not about fun, you're going wrong!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Pantera had a huge influence on Quentin, Laurent and I, as Slipknot, Machine Head and the Big Four to me (Sam). Yannick's one is Breakdown of Sanity while Rudy adds For Today, In Hearts Wake and Fit For A King.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Here, we got two for you, first off: -Rudy's girlfriend ask him once to say the words "Quiche Lorraine" (it's food) whil we were playing a show. And when came the song he wanted to say that, he said it like... ten times, and no one noticed it! -Second one: after a show, a young fan asked us to give some things, as a "souvenir", we did not now what to give her at first, when she asked for a piece of cymbal that broke during the show, and wanted it as a necklace. We refuse and gave him 2 picks, one from Yann and one from me (Sam).
13. What do you think of your fans?
Always their when we need them, and that's all we need!
14. What do you think of our site?
Not visited enough!
15. Something to add?
We hope you'll love our Ep Asylum, don't hesitate to tell us what you think of it, wheter if it's on Youtube comments, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, we'll see it, and if it's needed we'll answer, be sure of that! Long live Rock N' Roll!
