Man Of Words - Interview
In this new occasion we have the awesome opportunity to interview the Pop Punk/Alternative Rock band Man Of Words from USA, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them.We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The name came to my head one day and I thought it would be a cool solo/acoustic artist name, so I used that until this eventually grew into a full band and the name stuck. There are even acoustic songs on our first EP that were from the days when I was just a solo artist, a "Man Of Words".
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
I wanted to play pop punk because I grew up playing it, so why not stick to what you are good at? Anything loud makes me happy as an artist.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I wrote songs for Man Of Words before I had any members. I accidentally met a guy at a Finch show in Denver who was a drummer and we started jamming casually in basements. Although our drummer Jamie is still a new person in my life, our lead guitarist, Brandon, is an old friend of mine. We used to play in a band together during high school. However, he was the singer/guitarist and I was the drummer. It's nice having some old chemistry to throw into the new chemistry that I now possess with my drummer.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
My favorite band is Green Day, Brandon’s favorite band is either Green Day or The Rolling Stones. Jamie, our drummer loves Emery, Dance Gavin Dance, Senses Fail and Blink 182, and I don't think he could narrow that down to just one band.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Being bored inspires me to write songs. It’s like a puzzle in my head that I have to figure out. I've always been a mathematical person, and also kind of OCD. Once I start something, I love the challenge of finishing it. With that being said, I don’t always finish, so writing does drive me nuts on occasion. But it feels great to hear a finished product and think to yourself, "this was created with my emotion and maybe one day it will help someone get through a rough day.” Just like music was there for me when I was a kid.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was at Warped Tour 2015 in Camden, NJ
7. Where would you like to act?
I would like to play shows at parties with tons of sweaty screaming kids.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
That's like asking if I'd like chocolate, caramel, or both. Anybody who inspires us to play music would be on that list I think. I would love to play a song with Jack Black, specifically in his Tenacious D role. I could never show up his sidekick Kyle Gass, but that would never be the objective. I like making music and always have loved joking around. Jack Black fits that mold pretty easily.
9. Whom not?
I would not like to share a song with someone who sings opera.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I have only been stage fright in instances where I was in school. Other times involving music and performing have not frightened me, mostly because there isn't anyone on this planet who can make me afraid of doing what I love. I really only deal with "practice fright". This would be an instance where people watching us practice (not a frequent occurance) see how rough songs can sound before they are polished and ready for a live performance. I never consider myself unprepared for a show, but watching me practice and sketch out a song idea might be a different story. Brandon lives to be on stage. Hell, he’s got videos of him singing like Mick Jagger when he was 5. Jamie, I’m not sure about. Being behind a drum kit for a show is so demanding…I don’t think he has time nor the energy to be afraid. Too many tasks for him to keep up with to worry about stage fright. A tip for anyone who battles stage fright- Everyone is there to see you because they want to see you. And if they don’t want to see you, make them want to see you next time.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Bands that have inspired me the most- Blink 182 because they were so influential in the late 90’s early 2000’s…what kid with a guitar back then wasn’t inspired by them? And Yellowcard speaks to me. I felt like as a writer, their music is the route I would personally take when blurting out songs.
12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
The weirdest thing a fan has ever asked me for was to sing the chorus to one of our songs while they found me in a parking lot one evening. I however was not the singer of this particular band I was in at the time, so it really caught me off gaurd. I did it anyways, and he was so drunk that he gave me a $20 bill afterwards.
13. What do you think of your fans?
I think our fans are very supportive, patient, accepting people that like to share music with friends, and also become close to the band as well. I’ve had numerous people reach out to me telling me they enjoyed listening to Man Of Words. And I appreciate every one of them. It keeps me going, knowing that someone is out there waiting for your next creation.
14. What do you think of our site?
I think the website for Breathing the Core is chock-full of stuff that music fans will enjoy. I like the platform you’ve laid out for artists to showcase themselves on.
