Old State - Interview

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It's the name of a local street.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We didn't choose the genre. The sound is a collaborative effort from all our influences.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Most of us are old friends.  We met Shad our drummer in the missed connections of Craig’s List. He was really disappointed that we weren’t the cute blond girl he bumped into at the checkout line at Wal-Mart.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Skippy (Keytar): Steve Miller Band

Shad (Kazoo): Spice Girls

Brad (Xylophone): Elevator Music

Aaron (Timpani): Ace of Base

Dave (With Myself): James Blunt

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Donald Trump’s hairpiece.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our friend Dan’s cousin’s Bah Mitzvah.

7. Where would you like to act?

Broadway Performance of Newsies.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

John Stamos.

9. Whorn not?

Bob Saget.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright?Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

Shad gets boners all the time when he plays.  It’s really distracting… to all of us.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Wiggles.  Sex Bob-Omb.  Yung Lean.  Body Count.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Keep playing.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our moms are awesome.  Dave’s friend Greg is pretty cool.

14. What do you think of our site?
