In this new occasion we have the awesome opportunity to interview the Progressive Metal/Djent band Last Pawn from Spain, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them.We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Our concept of the “Pawn” is that of a lost soul, an individual who is the last one of his kind and must fight his own demons in order to find himself and become a hero. There are no more pawns, they cannot be him. We’re alone, we are the Last Pawn.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We were looking for new sounds and new ways in order to surprise the people out there, people who are keen on fusion genres, who are tired of always listening to the same stuff, and feel like everything has already been done in music. There is always a lot you can do!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Well, Kiko and Mike met each other on the Internet and wanted to start a band together. So, after some time trying to make a place for the band in the local scene, they found the rest of the members among their high school friends and by posting adverts online. And now, it’s time to find our new drummer!

4. Each band member favourite band?

I guess we have a lot of musical diversity in this band. Here is a bit about us:

River (singer & bass): Queen

Julio (screams): Avenged Sevenfold

Kiko Roy (guitar): The Beach Boys

Mike (guitar): Led Zeppelin

Sergio (guitar): Rainbow

Isabel (violin): Berri Txarrak

Pablo (violin): Snarky Puppy

Keyne (viola): System of a Down

Pilar (cello): El Kanka

Lara (double bass): Guns n’ Roses

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Everyone in the band finds their own sources of inspiration, and then one of us shows the rest an idea or concept they came up with, mostly inspired by feelings or inner conflicts we want to instill in our audience. The song is the final result of everyone’s work, which is based on the primal idea.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at Caravan, a small pub in Madrid, and it was the first one of a new period for the band –we were presenting new members, our new EP and some unheard tunes. Our setlist was arranged for acoustic format –since we’re currently looking for a drummer–, and it has generated a lot of good opinions.

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d love to act in international fests like Hellfest, Wacken or Resurrection, of course ;) It’d be great to record a live in Royal Albert Hall or our own “Made in Japan” in Tokyo’s Budokan, haha.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

At the moment, we’d love to play with some really cool Spanish bands, such as Thornskill or Lecarde. And, thinking big, it’d be great to play with The Aristocrats or Haken.

9. Whom not?

We believe in fusion, so we think we can create something great with any musician, haha.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Some of us have suffered from this condition and, after talking about it, we realized that this is just something you have to live with for some time if you want to show the world what you do. But eventually you’ll get more confident every time you get on stage and you’ll be able to turn all that anxiety into positive energy to pass on to the audience.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We have many influences, as much as members we have. The Beach Boys, System of a Down, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Tool, Haken, Megadeth… those are some of the most inspiring bands to us, due to their vocals or their instrumental parts.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Well, a fan from Argentina would like us to go and play there, which seems pretty crazy right now. We’ll work to make it real one day, though!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Well, for the moment, most of our fans are friends and people from our social circles, and of course they’re all pretty amazing! But we aspire to see this project grow, so we end up not knowing where our fans come from, haha.

14. What do you think of our site?

We find it quite neat, since it allows you to discover great independent and underground bands in an easy, well-organized way, without even asking for anything in return for all the promo! You guys rock!

15. Something to add?

Thanks a lot for having us, it’s been a real pleasure. We’d love it if some of your audience would give us a listen. We don’t sound that core, though, but in case you like prog and that kind of stuff, stay tuned! We’re here:
