Interviews: The Ansible
In this new occasion we have the awesome opportunity to interview the Progressive Metal/Djent/Metalcore band The Asinble from USA, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them.We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Derril: Greg and I initially had the name Kingdoms in mind, but there was a bigger, more established band with the name. At the time he and I had been reading "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, and The Ansible is used throughout the book for instantaneous communication across time and space. Greg dropped the name on me and there was never a second thought. It's a perfect fit for us.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Derril: Some of our biggest influences are in the progressive metal and djent genres. It's simply just what we like to hear, write, and play!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Derril: Yes and no. Greg and I played together, and wrote Binary Dreams, for quite sometime before the others were recruited. Nigel we knew from local Austin scene. He was a guitar player in Roma. Chris we met while visiting the Austin TX metal podcast, which he co-hosts. And Darian found us via social media. He was moving from Minnesota and was looking for a band to play drums in.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Derril: Between the Buried and Me
Greg: Deftones
Chris: Machine Head
Darian: Meshuggah
Nigel: Periphery
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Derril: We take inspiration from everything, but mostly from each other. There's nothing like one of your brothers showing you an epic riff and everyone immediately saying, "Oh! Let's put this after that." Or, "Yo, I've got this pattern that will go well with that."
6. Where was your last gig?
Austin, TX
7. Where would you like to act?
All over the world. Everywhere. Anywhere.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Northlane, The Contortionist, Architects, and Between the Buried and Me, to name a few.
9. Whom not?
Nickelback
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Chris: Our first show was my first show, and I was terrified.
Derril: Everyone definitely gets some form of stage fright in their life, but if you practice constantly and address your flaws, aim for perfection, and remember that you're there to have fun and do what you love, you'll be fine. Or you'll puke and then be fine.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Derril: I can't say we have one band that inspires us the most all the time, but the latest EP "Draw Closer" is most heavily influenced by Deftones. The mix of heavy and dreamy is something we like to capture with our music.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Sadly, none of our fans have asked for anything weird. Hopefully some one is reading this saying, "challenge accepted"!
13. What do you think of your fans?
Fans are the best part of a band. Who would we be without fans? They keep us alive and thriving. Every shirt, ticket, download or CD bought keeps us going, both mentally and financially. We can't thank them enough for being supportive and paying attention.
14. What do you think of our site?
You give bands of all shapes and sizes the opportunity to showcase their talents. Your site and sights like yours are a big reason the metal and hardcore scene is thriving. We love and respect what you do.
15. Something to add?
We'd like to invite everyone to check out our album Binary Dreams. And stay tuned for our sophomore release Draw Closer, which will be released April 8th, 2016.
