Interviews: Tides Awaking

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

1) We really liked playing with the idea of various meanings the word "tide" can have. For us, tides represent highs and lows of life. On the other hand, they are a force of nature, the one whose power reflects in our music.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?    

It's an interesting, multifaceted genre of music, that's quite challenging to play. It's something that certainly helps us grow as musicians. We saw it is an opportunity to point out social and political problems of the society we are living in. Also, being part of the metal community is great. The bonds between people are strong.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

Yes, everyone knew each other before. We were working on different projects at the time, before deciding to come together and form Tides Awaking.

4. Each band member's favourite band?  

Denis: Lamb of God

Patrick: Texas in July

Jose: Monuments

Robin and Sean: Dream Theater.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?    

It's very important for us that people find bits of and for themselves in our music; something that would inspire them to make a change, even if a small one. We would love to leave something behind us that would live forever, and hopefully inspire the next generation of musicians, as we are inspired by all the great bands out there.

6. Where was your last gig?

Underground Cologne, Germany.

7. Where would you like to act?    

Wacken, of course - it's in our roots! Apart from that, we'd love to play around the world, introduce our music to people, connect with them, get to know their culture, absorb the power of diversity and let it influence us.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?    

August Burns Red, Parkway Drive, Monuments , Killswitch Engage

Kanye West :D

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?    

No, not any more. The most important piece of advice we can give is - be focused, now what you are doing and why you are doing it, be prepared and practice, practice, practice! That said, adrenaline pumping through your veins is still the key to a powerful live show.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?  

August Burns Red, Breakdown of Sanity, Bleed From Within.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing so far.

13. What do you think of your fans?    

Our fans are really amazing. They bring as much power to our performance as we do ourselves and they really know how to heat up atmosphere of any venue. Without them, we wouldn't be the same, and their support really means much to us.

14. What do you think of our site?    

We really like what you do for the scene. It's a great support and amazing opportunity for newcomers and bands on the rise. Thanks again!
