Interviews: WRECKAGE

In this new occasion we have the awesome opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Hardcore band WRECKAGE from Netherlands, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them.We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band is named after an accident. Tim crashed his car into a lamppost trying to parallel park and he totally busted the car, wrecking it. So we decided to name our band WRECKAGE.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We wanted to bring or own touch in this genre. Really meaningful lyrics together with angry and emotional musical elements. We really feel like this genre of music allows us to convey our message to other people.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Tim and Jurjen knew each other before the band was formed, but all the members found each other through an online post that Tim made.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Jurjen (vocals): Yearbook, Counterparts

Lesley (guitar): My Iron Lung, Norma Jean

Mark (guitar): Counterparts, alexisonfire, Linkin Park, Dire Straits

Marvin (drums): Creedence Clearwater Revival, Angels & Airwaves, Blink 182

Tim (bass): Have Heart, Landscapes, First Blood, Stray from the Path

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

In lyrical optic Jurjen writes about certain subjects that he gets mad or sad about. Music-wise, we just write what gets stuck in our head and keep going from there.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Asten, a small town in Brabant, The Netherlands on the 13th of February. It was a really cool show with our new made friends in Shallow, you really have to check them out.

7. Where would you like to act?

Festivals like Jera on Air, Groezrock, Ieperfest or US Warped Tour would really be cool to play.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We just put out a split EP with our mates in Dock 83 and their vocalist Jesse featured on our song “Villain”. It’s really cool to release a record with other great musicians. This EP can be found through https://wreckagenl.bandcamp.com. We don't really have someone that we would want to feature with now, but if someone would want to feature on our stuff, that would be pretty sick.

9. Whom not?

We believe that music is about friendship, instead of competition. There are no specific musicians we wouldn't want to feature with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes. Breath in, breath out and go, also DON'T eat right before a show.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Counterparts and Svalbard have been great influences for us on an instrumental level, along with other bands like Architects, While she Sleeps and Owl City. Although that last one mostly helped us lyrically.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven't really had somebody asking for something weird. The weird thing for us is, that people actually like us enough to buy our merch. That really means the world to us.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We think every fan of us is really cool.

14. What do you think of our site?

Just a great site. It brings a lot of content for everyone to look at and perhaps most importantly, it's a great platform for discovering new, cool bands
