Interviews: Proposal

In this new occasion we had the great opportunity to interview the Melodic Hardcore band Proposal from Australia. We have nothing more to say than enjoy this interview and like their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Well to be honest with you guys, we were trying to decide on a name and anyone who's done this in a band before knows how hard it is to get everyone to agree on one thing, so we kept throwing ideas out and I think one of us was listening to the intro track on heart in hands album almost there, which is called Proposal and we all agreed on it.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We've all played in bands before and been apart of different genres, our guitarist is the one who sent us in the right direction, we both love melodic hardcore and have wanted to do this kinda stuff for ages, we talked about doing something so he sat down and wrote all the music to our first release and I loved it, turns out the rest of the guys did as well.

We're all in this for the love of it and we want to make a positive impression with the music we write.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah we all knew each other which was cool because it all sort of fell into place, we didn't have to stretch out for members or search for ages.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Right now here are our faves if we had to choose one -
Daniel; Vinnie Paz
Liam; Hotel Books
Benji; Being as an Ocean
Damian; Make do and Mend
Jay; Pantera

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Day to day events, life in general, mainly the ups and downs, wanting to make a positive impact and we write music we're going to enjoy playing and listening to ourselves.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in a small lame club in Wollongong, we opened for a pop punk/blink-182 cover set, humble beginnings I guess.
A bunch of our friends came out for it though and we played with the dudes in Cambridge which was awesome, those dudes are loose as haha.

7. Where would you like to act?

So many places, me personally I want to play south east Asia, I've heard the crowds there are pretty fun.

We really want to play all over the world though, this is our passion and we want to make a living out of it so we're full steam ahead.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Ah how to even answer this question, our dreams are to be up there playing alongside the likes of Hundredth, The Ghost inside and being as an ocean.

9. Whom not?

We really don't think we'd say no to playing many shows, there's not many bands we'd say no to, unless like you asked us to travel to the other side of the country to open for your local metal cover band haha.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we're all still a little nervous that somethings gonna go wrong on stage and being a smaller band that are just starting out we're probably gonna have to deal with it a lot more with bigger shows.
Like I said earlier though, we've all been in bands before so we sorta know the deal at least with local shows.

Best way to deal with it is just go in there head first, after the first song or two you'll start feeling more comfortable, maybe even have a drink or two before hand, before you know it you'll feel comfortable playing most shows.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I'd have to say heart in hand, stick to your guns, hundredth, being as an ocean, modern life is war and lately the ghost inside just because of everything they're going through and they're still coming out of it stronger than ever, a lot of respect for those guys and the bands listed.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven't really had anything weird asked yet, probably our signatures because we're only a small band it's sorta crazy when someone asks you to sign something

We have been drawing weird drawings and sending them off with every merch order we get though, I hope people enjoy them.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Absolutely love them, everyone that's listened to the EP and enjoyed it, everyone that's bought a shirt, shared our posts or even liked them, we can't even explain how awesome it is to have people do that kinda stuff and we appreciate it so damn much.

14. What do you think of our site?

Absolutely love it, we were really surprised when you guys shared our first release, it's a great way to find new music, we love that you're supporting smaller bands, and keeping it all alive

15. Something to add?

Check out our bandcamp, follow us on Instagram and keep a look out for our first full length we're releasing later this year!
