Interviews: Awaken The Shadow

In this new occassion we have had the pleasure to interview the Metalcore band Awaken The Shadow, from USA. Check out this band because they are amazing and do not forget to follow them in their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

I've always been a fan of horror and dark imagery, however, the name, like certain lyrical concepts is open for personal interpretation.  For me it symbolizes the birth of something dark, sinister, or haunting.  

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

I grew up on 80's rock and metal.  I've been obsessed with it since I was a kid.   

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Ali and I played in a band called Wildstreet, and were friends even before that.  When Wildstreet called it quits we decided to start something new together.  It took many months to find the right voice and as soon as we heard Taylor, we knew he was the guy.  Sean joined shortly after Taylor.  

4. Each band member favourite band? 

Aaron:  All time - Queen.  

Current: Avenged Sevenfold Although I can't speak for the other guys.  I'm pretty sure this is what they're currently into... 

Taylor: Backstreet Boys 

Ali: Alanis Morissette 

Sean: Nick Jonas  

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Horror fims, the cruelty of human kind, hope, and the opportunity to open minds.  

6. Where was your last gig?   

Awaken the Shadow has just begun to play live!  My last show was with Wildstreet at the Rocklahoma festival in 2013.  

7. Where would you like to act?   

On The Walking Dead.  

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

We haven´t thougth about it yet...

9. Whom not?   

Bring me the Horizon, Yes!  Kanye, No!          

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

I've never had stage fright, but I constantly worry about gear failing.  Keep practicing!  If you know your stuff front to back then you'll have nothing to worry about but enjoying the moment!  And those moments will be some of the best in your life.  

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Avenged Sevenfold, Bring me the Horizon, Tool, Dredg.  We may not really sound like any of those bands.  But those are a few who inspire me to do what I do.  

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?   

For us to stay with them!  It's crazy to me how total strangers will invite 5 smelly band guys to stay at their place, feed them, and give that amount of trust to bring them into their homes.  The power of music is incredible.  ...Also a dude asked Ali and I to sign his car once, haha.  

13. What do you think of your fans?   

They've been very supportive and kind thus far.  We would be nothing without them.  

14. What do you think of our site?   

Two thumbs up!  Keep bringing new music to the people!
