Interviews: The Kreutzer Sonata

In this new occassion we have had the pleasure to interview the Hardcore band The Kreutzer Sonata, from USA. Check out this band because they are amazing and do not forget to follow them in their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name comes from the Leo Tolstoy book and the Beethoven Sonata of the same title.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Karl: I wanted to play metal but i wasn't good enough then i started writing punk shit and got over metal music for the most part.  Adam- My friend Scott brought over a copy of Rolling Stone featuring Kurt Cobain’s favorite albums when I was 13. We went through the list, listening to all the bands and I fell in love with punk. Always hated Nirvana, but loved the bands that they listened to.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Karl and Kat were and still are dating, but did not know Adam. Karl met Adam on a craigslist musician classified and Kat joined the band about two years later.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Karl:  Not sure.

Adam: Warzone

Kat: Converge

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Karl: I get random melody ideas throughout the day but for lyrics im inspired by hypocrisy, hopeless people, and just trying to overcome shit  Adam- Life experience, world views, turning negative energy into positive energy.

6. Where was your last gig?

A bar called Chalk in Forest Park, IL with Eske, Van Morphine and Kicking Brickley all from Illinois. Check those bands out!

7. Where would you like to act?

Karl: Bottom Lounge in Chicago.

Adam: Hardcore Stadium (Boston), 924 Gilman (CA), Reggies main stage (Chicago), The EL N G (New London).

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Karl: A lot of people  Adam- Cro Mags, Urban Waste, Monster Squad, The Unseen.

9. Whom not?

No comment. PMA all day

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Karl: Eat what you can the day of a show and as healthy as possible.

Adam: I get more anxious just waiting around to play than I do on stage.  My advice would be to relax with friends but that often pushing yourself out of your comfort zone in a new place and being social is often the best cure for anxieties about playing live.

Kat: I just started playing bass a little over two years ago and played my first show after four months. I still get nervous and feel like I’m still a beginner. The best thing for someone afraid of being on stage is to just push through it. The more comfortable you pretend you are, the more comfortable you’ll actually be.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Karl: Punk bands- AGT Black Flag Initial State  non punk bands

Rufus: Wainwright Elliott Smith

Adam: NYHC, CTHC/Punk especially Bloodshot Hooligans, Them!, Crackin’, Palehorse, Mass. Streetpunk, 80’s California bands, The Pogues, Elvis Presley, dollar bin classical music LP’s. Also Converge.

Kat: Converge, DotFuckingCom, Punch, Cro Mags, Antischism, A Global Threat, and many more.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Adam: Not sure but when I was young I played a punk show in a church and a dude put on a dress and attached a rotisserie chicken to his head with a bow and asked/ had punks eat it off his head, then another dude cracked his head open on the floor and people were rubbing his blood all over their faces when the EMT arrived.

Kat: To come home with them. No thanks.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Karl: Love em  Adam- Our fans are more so our friends and other musicians who support us. I appreciate that anyone even listens to our music even if the number of listeners is very little.

14. What do you think of our site?

We appreciate you guys and sites like yours that help promote independent music. Not everyone would take the time to put something beneficial together for small artists especially with how involved people’s lives get when they get older, so thank you!
