Interviews: When Worlds Collide
In this new occassion we have had the pleasure to interview the Metalcore band When Worlds Collide, from Sweden. Check out this band because they are amazing and do not forget to follow them in their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
For starters we thought it was a cool name and that is really the main reason. The name has also some individual meaning to some in the band. Like the actual colliding of worlds, like in space :).
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Well, that is a hard question! We think that it just became that. We all listened to metalcore in some way and Björn, whom is writing most of the music in When worlds collides, listen to it alot. And its fun to play! Its so dynamic, and the possibilites are endless! We love it.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, some of us. The guitarrists are even brothers! To make a long story short, Björn (leadguitar), Robin (rythmguitar) and Robert (drums) went to the same school together and started to hang out in highschool/college. Later in life the trio moved to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden where they met Tobias (vocals). After a few months our first bassplayer Mattias parted ways with the band and Johannes joined and that is the current lineup as we write this.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Haha, its really mixed!
Björn: August burns red
Robin: After the burial
Robert: Cult of luna
Tobias: Kent
Johannes: Architects
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Well, we have to say August Burns red is a big part of our inpiration. All guys in that band are great rolemodels to kids, and people in the scen. Björn who writes most of the music listen alot to moviemusic and classic music. Some of the inspirations from that genre is Hans Zimmer, Johann Sebastian Bach and Klaus Badelt. Other things we are inspired about is the human struggle, the will to fight and love. So for us, a story about, lets say a constructionworker with a scar, goes waaaaay higher then a story about a famous actor etc. We are not writing about politics or anything in that matter.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was in Uppsala! It was the end of our tour with Behind the lights here in Sweden. The tour was SKyline tour, promoting thier just released Skyline EP. The gig was amazing, alot of cool kids and guys in Uppsala.
7. Where would you like to act?
The whole world! Everywhere to be honest! But if we only got to choose one place to gig on with soldout tickets, it would definitly be Madison square garden!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
In our genre it would definitly be August burns red, architecs UK, Parkway drive, Beartooth etc.
9. Whom not?
Hmmm, really dificullt to answer. Every band with racistpropaganda or in style with that. We would never get on stage with a band that stand behind stuff like that.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Oooh, yes. I think all of us in the band have experienced it more or less. And it comes in diffrent forms. For us in When worlds collide, we need to be alone 1 hour before a show. Only the guys in the band allowed within that hour. As far as tips and tricks to newer talents. Try and be alone, for at least 30 minutes before a show. Tune your guitar, play some airdrums, test out your vocals, go through the set in your head. Its really important to get your gameface on. Take your liveact serious and treat every liveset as the most important one in your life! We in WWC go out on stage with the mentality that we are to be the best god damn band on stage that night. Its really individual for every band so try out some stuff and you will find the right thing for you!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Again, mostly august burns red but we are really inspired by alot of diffrent bands dependning on who you ask ;).
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Haha, we really dont have had anyone ask us some weird stuff. Yet..
13. What do you think of your fans?
They are our bread and butter. We play for them! So its a nobrainer.. Our fans and people who help us out on our journey are the true meaning of When worlds collide.
14. What do you think of our site?
Its great! Love it, we greatly appreciate organizations that help and promote relatively unknow acts and bands. Its amazing really.
15. Something to aodd?
We are in the planning of both a tour in Europe this year AND a new EP, so make sure you check us out on facebook and instagram to not miss dates and sneakpeaks!
