News: FADER PREMIERES NEW MUSEUM MOUTH SONG "LACQUER"
FADER is now premiering "Lacquer" - "a catchy smasher of a love song" - from Wilmington, NC-based trio Museum Mouth. The song can be heard HERE and comes from the band's upcoming full-length,Popcorn Fish Guinea Pig.
"'Lacquer' is about pursuing a love interest you KNOW is gonna fail," reveals vocalist/drummer Karl Kuehn. "The two of you lock eyes from across the room and you IMMEDIATELY foresee every phase of your short relationship crashing and burning...but, of course, you pursue it anyways cuz why TF not, right? Also, I'm gonna be REALLY honest, I had to let my inner rap rock freak out with this bridge, and have my Blink-182 "Going Away to College" moment in the outro. This song is like a really ugly chimera of rock genres and I LOVE IT!!!!"
Museum Mouth will release Popcorn Fish Guinea Pig, their fourth full-length album, on April 29 via Rory Records - Max Bemis of Say Anything's imprint within Equal Vision Records.
Next week, Museum Mouth will kick off their first ever full US tour, supporting Say Anything, mewithoutYou, and Teen Suicide. All upcoming tour dates can be found below.
On Popcorn Fish Guinea Pig Kuehn and his bandmates, guitarist Graham High and bassist Kory Urban, explore the overwhelming emotions (ranging from nostalgia to trauma, with a splash of self-realization) that come from a move back to one's hometown after years away, and re-exploring small town life as an adult. "Lacquer" follows the release of "Riff From My Head", which debuted on Brooklyn Vegan, and "Incubus Tattoo", which debuted via Stereogum.

"Sometimes you go through shit, some of it is unbelievable shit (good or bad), some of it is kinda fun. Sometimes you move back home and you realize why you're the neurotic, pop culture obsessed, queer fool you are," reveals Kuehn. "And sometimes you find out that you really like that person...I know that in the downtime, and the loneliness that comes from living in a small town in your mid-twenties, I found out I sure did."
