Interviews: Liars & Thieves

In this new occassion we have had the pleasure to interview the Metal/ Hardcore band Liars & Thieves, from Germany. Check out this band because they are amazing and do not forget to follow them in their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name was actually the idea of a friend of ours, who is singer in Irøn Wolf. A band Lukas played drums for in the last year. We all loved the name immediatly and we started to interpret a lot into it. To us it means that all human beeings, in one way or another, are Liars and Thieves. And that we all shall think about or own sins first before we judge others.  

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I think because we are all into this kind of music.  

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some of us were in a band together a long time before „Liars and Thieves“ But we all knew each other because Wuppertal is a small city, and the hardcore scene is even smaller. even tough Liars and Thieves bound us all together to become real friends.  

4. Each member favourite band?

Basti: The Bronx 

Toby: Architects 

Adrian: Deftones 

Marcel: Invent Animate 

Lukas: John Coffey  

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?  

We get inspired by listening to music from other bands. We steal and mix it with our own sound. But also just jamming together makes the most of our songwriting. When it comes to lyrics we´re mostly inspired by our surrounding. Many of our songs are politically motivated. Against environmental abuse, against racism etc. But we have also personal story that we tell and that inspired us for writing.  

6. Where was your last gig?

We played our first show a few weeks ago in Solingen... and it was incredible.  

7. Where would you like to act?  

We would like to act anywhere. There is not a special venue that we would prefer to play. We will take whatever we can get. It would be awesome if we could tour trough europe one day.  

8. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?   

Yeah we all have. We are all right now. We are probably the worst band to ask for a cure against stage-fright, But i think that whenever you have stage-fright you are also thrilled to play. So let the joy prevail the fear.  

9. What bands have inspired you the most?  

I would say bands like Northlane, While she Sleeps, Architects were a good inspiration. But we also listen to a lot of infamous bands or old stuff. It is hard to tell wich one of all the good bands out there have inspired us the most.  

10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

The weirdest thing that happened to us is you asking us for an interview. We merely got 345 FB likes. We still think this is a prank. ;D  

11. What do you think of your fans?

We´ll tell you when we will have one. ;)  

12. What do you think of our site?

Your site is fantastic to find new and unknown bands and we're happy that our EP was featured on your site. :)
