Interviews: As Orchids Wither

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band As Orchids Withers, from Bulgaria. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It was really spontaneous and we didn't think much of it, plus it has all the cool metalcore elements and it's really hard to pronounce by most people from where we're from. We tell people it represents beauty and destruction at the same time but we just wanted it to sound cool. ;)

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We wouldn't say that all of us wanted to play this genre, but we also can't say that we didn't want to. It's just what all our ideas add up to. And it's what all the cool kids are doing, right?

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Our guitarist Vladimir was in a melodic death metal band with our singer Giorgio before, and when that band broke up our bass player Alex said "let's bee cool and play metalcore" and invited them to play with the band on it's first concert as "As Orchids Wither". We've been changing guitar players a lot since then, but the core of the band has always been Alexander (bass), Vladimir (guitar), Giorgio (vocals) and Stoyno (drums).

4. Each band member favourite band?

Vladimir: Most of the Summerian roster.

Alexander: A lot of melodic metalcore/deathcore/hardcore/beatdown but 3 really favorite bands I can name right now are Killswitch Engage, System Of A Down, Billy Talent.

Giorgio: Sepultura, Soulfly, Spetic Flesh, Gojira, Whitechapel.

Stoyno: Texas In July, Intervals, Tesseract, August Burns Red, Trivium (Ascendandcy, Shogun, In Waves)

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Everything can inspire someone to write, you could be eating your breakfast or taking a dump and get a great idea. You never know (but it's mostly taking a dump, really).

6. Where was your last gig?

Club Grindhouse in Sofia. It was the promo for our split CD with our brothers in 8m/s. Great support bands, great crowd, one of our best gigs up to date.

7. Where would you like to act?

Wherever we get the chance basically. Really,we would like to get our music across to as many people as possible, so we're planning some eouropean tours in 2016-2017.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Well, besides our favourite bands we don't know. Metallica? Who would want to play with Metallica??

9. Whom not?

We haven't had any bad cases with bands for now, so we guess all are welcome.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

No one from our band has ever had a problem with stage fright and we have always had a blast playing live, no matter the circumstances. The most important thing when playing live is knowing your songs inside and out, like, don't even try to play live unless you can play yours songs in your sleep.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Vladimir: Metallica and Children of Bodom are my personal "entry-level" bands, because they inspired me to pick up an instrument. Alexander: Probably every band that has given me that epic vibe that makes you wanna do stuff. You know what I'm talking about!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Oh, there really haven't been special cases, but fans often come on stage and perform with us, which shows real dedication on their side.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We've been a band for 2+ years now. That's not a really long time, but our fans are probably some of the most dedicated a 2-year local band can ask for.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's great what you guys are doing, and we're really happy that you are showcasing our album and giving us an interview. Keep up the good work! Small bands need this kind of help, because it's hard out there for bands that want to make it big.

15. Something to add?

Bring back 80s speed metal! :P Never give up on your dreams! :P Only God can judge us! :P
