Interviews: Bailer

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Hardcore band Bailer, from Ireland. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

For the first while when we were jamming and writing our initial batch of songs, we couldn’t think of any good band names, so we started tossing around joke names for months. Then one day BAILER was thrown out, and everyone loved it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Hard hitting heavy music is what comes natural to us. Metal and Hardcore music has always been a massive part of our lives, and we find we write the best music we can when we play what we like. For us, it’s not about trying to sound like anything else, but instead only creating music we find fun and exciting. The band is still in it's infancy really, but from the start the core sound of what we wanted was shining through immediately. We're continuing to develop that sound and we feel there's a whole lot more to come from us.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Most of us did, because we all played in different bands throughout most our teen years here in Cork. However Dave was living in Waterford and playing more shows there and in Dublin, plus he was a little bit older. When we met Dave a few years ago in Cork, we fell in love with his bass sound and style, and started jamming together. Shortly after that, Bailer came together.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Chris: Every Time I Die

Alex: That’s one thing I find so hard to answer because I love music as a collective, if a record really hits the spot then ill more than likely be listening to it again and again for my entire life.

Dave: Pantera

Paul: Every Time I Die

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

For all of us, we see a lot off shit every single day that really fuckin’ pisses us off. Writing music is our way escaping the bullshit. Our live show is how we release that energy, and seeing others sharing that release drives us to keep writing better music. Our songs are always developed with the live element in mind.

6. Where was your last gig?

Hometown EP launch here in Cork. One of the craziest shows we’ve played to date.

7. Where would you like to act?

We can’t wait to perform more shows in the UK this year, we have a tour coming up in the summer which will be announced soon, and we are doing our best to get to Germany and other parts of Europe later in the year or early next year. The U.S. is of course somewhere we really want to go, but its a while off for us yet. Eventually we want to play everywhere.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Every Time I Die. Snoop Dogg. Andrew W.K., The Black Dahlia Murder.

9. Whom not?

Anywhere there is people to piss off or party with us, we’ll play!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Alex: Stage fright sucks. When I was younger I could always talk the talk but rarely walked the walk in terms of facing stage fright. It took someone to just straight up tell me I was too shy and didn't connect with the crowd for me to make the change. I knew that shouldn't represent who I am. Being timid and quiet isn't who anyone is, its all about breaking out of the shell.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We wouldn’t say any particular bands, though there have been many, but more so the feeling and vibe of metal/hardcore music. It’s something that we’ve loved as we’ve grown up and we think it’s something that will stay with us for life.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven’t really been asked for any weird stuff, at least not yet anyway! We’ve just been asked to sign some CD’s and stuff. I know, boring right? Ask us again in a year’s time and hopefully we’ll have some weird stories!

13. What do you think of your fans?

The people who love our music, or come to our shows, or tell their friends about us, are the only reason we’ve been able to build traction from the beginning. We are extremely driven to take our live show as far and wide as we can, in order to connect with people. We want to keep everyone who likes us interested, and that’s why we work so hard, to keep delivering quality material that our fans enjoy.

14. What do you think of our site?

Its really cool, we actually only came across it recently so it’s great to be featured with you guys. Thanks for the support!

15. Something to add?

We just want to thank everyone who’s taken time to check us out and hopefully we can continue on this path that we’ve started to lay out for ourselves. We feel the future is bright for us and we’re looking forward to seeing where this insane journey is gonna take us!
