Interviews: For The Likes Of You

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview  the  Metalcore band For The Likes Of You, from USA. Check out this band because they are amazing and do not forget to follow them in their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

A long time ago back in 2011 we were struck with the question of “How and what do we name our band”. After we got sick and tired of thinking up stupid names, our drummer Devin came up with the idea of “For The Likes Of You”. It was simple and we thought it worked so we rolled with it.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Heavy music was something I always wanted to play because I always felt like it was the only thing I could do to release all the negative emotions and frustrations of my day to day life. It’s very therapeutic to me.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ryne and I have been friends since he was in middle school; we played together in previous bands. I met Devin in highschool. We found Zach a little later after losing our previous guitarist. Austin is our most recent member, replacing our old vocalist Casey Molenaar. We’ve been friends with Austin for the longest time. So when we asked him if he wanted to fill Casey’s shoes he was just as excited as we were.

4. Each band member favourite band?

That is a tough one for sure. I think I can speak for all of us when I say we are huge fans of anything dark and melodic such as The Plot In You & Architects. But as for me I’ve always been a huge blessthefall fan. I remember when they put their first record out watching one of their music videos on Fuse TV thinking "Holy shit, this is fucking awesome.”

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Every time I go to write a song, I try and put myself in a weird almost depressive state of mind. I never touch the lyrics that is usually Ryne or Austin’s job. As far as the instrumentals go, I try and write what feels real to me. This is the one thing I can really use to vent, and express my negativity in an artistic manner.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played in Seattle at Studio Seven a few weeks ago.

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere and everywhere. We have a month long tour we should be announcing shortly.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

The guys and I are still talking about features for our next record. We’re still really unsure at the moment.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we all start out with it. It’s just natural. My advice would be to just continue doing it. Pretty soon you just become comfortable up there and find your way.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Blessthefall has always been a huge inspiration to me. Even though we sound nothing alike thats just where I really became passionate about music. Right now I’m really into a lot of downtempo and crazy heavy stuff, I like it angry. A Wake In Providence, Falsifier, and Humanity's Last Breath a few bands I’ve been jamming recently.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To spank their ass hahaha. Very weird times on tour.

12. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are super cool. The fans we have are super loyal to us and treat us right. I guess it’s just better to call them our friends rather fans because that exactly what they are to us.

13. What do you think of our site?

Breathing The Core is super cool. I love what the site is doing and the bands it is getting coverage on.

14. Something to add?

Our new record Withered is out now. Pick it up and check it out!
