Interviews: Furian

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band Furian, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?

Joe: Well, we through a lot of terrible ideas around before we settled with Furian. Dan had the name in his head and it just seemed to work for us all. There's nothing really behind the name but it does have a little reference to Chronicles of Riddick, and let's face it, Vin Diesel is a bad ass!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Joe: When we first started playing together we had a very open path in our collective ideas for the band. We all group up in that Nu-Metal, post-hardcore era which appealed to us all and so it seemed natural to follow up on those influences.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Joe: Myself and Abhi attended the same university and had met Dan through another band audition. Dan knew Damien from a previous band and so we got together to play. Furian really brought us together as friends and musicians, especially considering our travels from Anglesey, Bradford and Liverpool to rehearse.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Joe: I think I can speak for all of us in putting Deftones up there. I'd say our collective influences stem from Deftones, Letlive, Reuben, Paramore, that sort of vibe.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Joe: We just have a real passion for what we do, life's past, present and future experiences are what lead us to our writing. I find that we inspire each other when we get in to the writing process. It usually starts with a couple of riffs where we bounce back ideas until we get something.

6. Where was your last gig?

Joe: We played the Live Rooms in Chester at the beginning of June with Palm Reader and Norma Jean. It was a great experience to play with bands of that level and a real eye opener.

7. Where would you like to act?

Joe: We've looking forward to playing more new places this year on our tour! We'd also love to get out to Europe at some point in the near future.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Joe: looking at current bands, Fightstar would be a great gig! We've had the pleasure of sharing stages with many amazing bands.

9. Whom not?

Joe: Something tells me we wouldn't go down too well opening up for One Direction...

10. Any of has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Joe: We've all had live experiences before that got us nervous, the best way to deal with it is to just have fun! Remember why you're doing it, and connect with the crowd.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Joe: Bands that just do what they do and stand behind their morals. Looking back at Letlive, there's just so much passion in the music, it's really inspiring.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Joe: Well I remember last year on our tour someone shouted a request for a blowjob...I guess that's as far out as it gets!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Joe: Our fans are everything to us. We are all about making new friends through our music, I mean that's the whole point of it, right? We've met so many awesome people through playing our music and we realise how important every single one of them are in Furian being what it is and becoming anything bigger.

14. What do you think of our website?

Joe: The website is great! You can find a lot of new bands and catch up on everything that's going on in the scene right now, it's super resourceful!

15. Anything to add?

Joe: Thanks for having us! We are releasing our new single "What's Up" on the 22nd July and heading out on a UK tour, you can get tickets at our webstore
