Interviews: Meridians

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Meridians, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

It has a personal meaning to each of us, but honestly it was just a random suggestion at the time that we took on the name. Our drummer Josh threw the idea out one day when we were brainstorming ideas and it just stuck with us somehow.  

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

Our musical tastes. Every member is a little bit different and we all listen to a bunch of different genres. The reason we play metalcore is because we are all very passionate about heavy music, that’s just something we have in common. We can really sink our teeth in it as a group.  

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

Only our guitarist Austin, and our bassist Deven knew each other before the band started. They went to high school together. Most of the members were founded through Craiglist posts.  

4. Each band member favourite band? 

Josh: Underoath 

Austin: Erra 

Deven: Killswitch Engage 

Xander: Blink 182 

Ryan: Silverstein  

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

All of the larger bands in our genre we take a lot of our inspirations from, but fans are what drive us the most. We LOVE our fans. They treat us as if we were one of the larger bands we look up to, and that is a feeling we cannot thank them for enough.  

6. Where was your last gig?  

Our most recent show was actually a small benefit show we did at The Jam Shack in Flint, MI for a young man who passed away. The proceeds went to his family to help with funeral costs.  

7. Where would you like to play? 

We would love to tour through the European festival season one day. The crowds and energy at those shows are unlike any other.  

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

We want Rory Rodriguez of Dayseeker to feature on a track eventually. Denis Stoff of Asking Alexandria or Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens would be great as well. Perhaps a feature guitar solo and cleans from Jesse Cash of Erra.

Kanye West  

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how  to beat that? 

No tips… YOU’RE ALL FUCKING DOOMED!!! No, but dealing with the heat on stage is half the battle of stage fright. It drains you of energy, and can make you feel very lethargic. Just make sure you stay hydrated on stage, and keep a bottle of water nearby. Don’t go on stage with an empty stomach either. The other half of stage fright is something you need to learn to overcome on your own. “Imagine the audience is all in their underwear.” Is that still a thing? Let’s go with that.  

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Asking Alexandria has had a huge impact on this band and the direction the sound has gone in. Other bands like Polyphia, Underoath, and The Devil Wears Prada have been very influential as well.  

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

Our clothes (and I don’t mean our merch), taking selfies that they can send to their mom, and muss.  

13. What do you think of your fans? 

We fucking love our fans!!! They are always loyal and ready to grind, especially in the Michigan scene. Our fans dedicate a lot of time to come see us play. It’s absolutely flattering to see so many people interested in our message and our art.  

14. What do you think of our site? 

It’s great! Been following Breathing The Core for the last year or so. You guys deliver some phenomenal reviews \m/  

15. Something to add? 

We just want to thank anyone and everyone who has taken interest in our band over the years, and helped to make our debut EP a reality. I’m sure some people won’t like it, but we hope they will still share it for anyone they know who might enjoy it.
