Interviews: No Room Left

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band No Room Left, from Germany. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

When we started we shared a rehearsal room with other musicians we knew as a temporary starting solution. Since the place originally belonged to the others, we could only practice there when no one else was in the room. Trying to schedule a time plan for all involved bands often failed – so a couple of times there truly was ‘No Room Left’ for us! One day, after not being able to practice once again, we sat in front of the building and just bullshitted around, that’s when we came up with it. We think the name fits, as it also stands in relation to topics we treat in our songs - feelings like sadness, fear or isolation.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

This is the music we like to hear the most and that has and had the strongest influence on us. The thought to add a little something to the genre was always there, and here we are.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Konstantin (Vocals) and Tobias (Guitar/Vocals) went to school together, Paul (Drums) and Konstantin met during their studies and Tobias and Florian (Bass) still study together at this point – so we weren’t exactly strangers before forming ‘No Room Left’.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Konstantin: Tough to name just one – I guess I’d have to go with Together.

Tobias: Changes from time to time and mood – Right now I would say Svalbard.

Florian: This Will Destroy You

Paul: Enter Shikari

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our daily environment, music we love and experiences we make and made. This also reflects in our first EP 'Enigma'. The song names describe situations some of us have been through and are related to the name. 'Combination' is about relationship approaches that went wrong, 'Riddle' describes the experienced impossibility to always come up with perfect solutions in life, 'Labyrinth' treats the feeling of alienation and disgust with big parts of today's society and 'Departure' is about attempts to leave all this negative stuff behind – e.g. by forming a band with some of your friends and spilling out your hearts together.

6. Where was your last gig?

The first one is yet to come! Our focus was on recording an EP first to have something to show to people and places that might give us the chance to play. But we hope to play our first shows soon.

7. Where would you like to act?

Basically anywhere where there is a great atmosphere and a cool crowd. But of course, it’s always a great thing to travel and see places you didn’t know before, so gigs in foreign countries would be especially awesome.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We often discussed that recording a song with ÊTRE? would be really fun – great band!

9. Whom not?

Any band or human being that bring negative things to this genre and this scene. Sexism, homophobia, xenophobia and all that other crap should not have a place anywhere, and most certainly not at Hardcore shows.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We will find out soon! The best thing is probably to practice such situations before stepping on a stage, which we do, but of course, theory and practice are a difference.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Konstantin: Apart from ‘Together’, I would also have to name ‘Back At Sea’, ‘Business As Usual’ and ‘Choking On Illusions’.

Paul: There are a lot of great bands out there who could be named here. At the moment I also try to experience some other genres. I want to avoid unconsciously orientating too much on other bands, so I always try to spread my horizon furthermore.

Tobias: I can’t say that there are one or two bands that inspire my songwriting in a particular way. I really like to listen to music a lot and I think it is fun and challenging to add a little something from all kinds of genres to our music - without losing the sound we want it to have. For me the most important thing is to develop our sound to prevent it from getting boring for us and for the people who listen to it.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We are not sure whether we have too many fans at this point, and those who support us fortunately did not ask for any weird things.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Anyone that supports us in any way already is greatly appreciated. Especially in this scene with the DIY-thought all over it, you need help and solidarity to keep going.

14. What do you think of our site?

It is a great source to find new bands and stay updated about the things that are going on in the scene worldwide! We will follow you closely in order to discover new bands, read interesting interviews and broaden our knowledge of the core-scene.

15. Something to add?

Thanks a lot for having us, report about us and our EP – it means a lot and is a huge help since we are just getting started.
