News: HAIL THE SUN PREMIERES "ENTERTAINMENT LIES" VIA REVOLVER MAGAZINE
Equal Vision Records' Hail The Sun has partnered with Revolver Magazine today to premiere "Entertainment Lies". The track can be heard now HERE.
"Our generation is pretty desensitized by sex, with it so readily available at our fingertips. And while we believe it's important to express ourselves sexually, there are many of us who do not know the dark treatment and situations girls endure when entering - and leaving - the adult entertainment industry," states vocalist/drummer Donovan Melero. "I hope that this song helps to provoke thought on how x-rated films portray women, and how it affects their lives on and off screen, as well as how we, the general population, perceive women because of these videos. I would venture to say it truly ISN’T as it seems on camera."
"Entertainment Lies" comes from Hail The Sun's upcoming full-length,Culture Scars, which will be released on June 17 - just before the band begins their run on the 2016 Vans Warped Tour. All upcoming tour dates can be found below. The quartet also recently debuted videos for "Words of Gratitude (Parents)", "Paranoia" and "Burn Nice and Slow (The Formative Years)", which features an incredible animated storyline.
Pre-orders for Culture Scars are available now athailthesun.merchnow.com. The first pressing for the LP is limited to 1000, with three color variations including 700 on sand colored vinyl (MerchNOW/retail), 200 on forest green vinyl (tour exclusive) and 100 on opaque white vinyl (MerchNOW). On Friday, "Entertainment Lies", "Words of Gratitude (Parents)", "Burn Nice and Slow (The Formative Years)" and "Paranoia" will all become available via digital retailers such as Spotify,iTunes, Google Play, AmazonMP3 and as instant grat tracks viaMerchNOW.
Culture Scars is Hail The Sun's third full-length, and was recorded with producer Mike Watts (The Dear Hunter, Hopesfall, As Cities Burn). The thoughtprovoking album offers a dark mix of personal reflection and social commentary, exploring the relationships between observation vs. action and perception vs. reality - and the effect of each on human emotion and society as a whole.
The album also explores vocalist/drummer Donovan Melero's personal journey of overcoming addiction and reflects on his growth since that time, and the impact that getting sober (now seven years clean) has had on his perception of himself, his past relationships, and his resulting appreciation for his family, friends and the opportunity to make music and tour with his bandmates.
Culture Scars is the follow-up to Wake (2014) and two prior self-released albums: Elephantitis EP (2012) and Pow! Right in the Kisser! (2010). Hail The Sun is comprised of Donovan Melero (vocals, drums), Aric Garcia (guitar), John Stirrat (bass), and Shane Gann (guitar).
