News: WATERPARKS FEATURED ON COVER OF ALTERNATIVE PRESS; PREMIERES "NO CAPES" MUSIC VIDEO; IN THE STUDIO NOW RECORDING DEBUT FULL-LENGTH‏

Alternative Press, one of the largest music magazine's in the world, recently revealed that Awsten Knight of Waterparks is featured on the cover of the July issue. Knight is one of six vocalists featured across two separate covers celebrating the 2016 Vans Warped Tour lineup, with one cover featuring Knight alongside Dan Lambton of Real Friends and Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, and a second cover featuring Jenna McDougall of Tonight Alive, Chris Cerulli of Motionless in White and Telle Smith of The World Alive. The issue is on newsstands now and is available online HERE. This is the first magazine cover for the Houston, TX-based band, who will perform on the entirety of the 2016 Vans Warped Tour.
Today, Waterparks is also premiering their fun new live music video for "No Capes" via AltPress, which was filmed during the band's recent tours with Never Shout Never and Good Charlotte.
"When I found out that I was gonna be on the cover of AP, I was at a Fall Out Boy/Panic At The Disco show and I lost my cool entirely," shares Knight. "I think I yelled a combination of "WHAT" "WHY DO THEY WANT ME" "HOLY SHIT" "WHAT" "WHAT" on repeat about 600 times and severely annoyed every living person within ten feet of me lifeless. I've been subscribed to the magazine since I was 14 so this is beyond huge for me; It's major bucket list stuff. They're premiering the "No Capes" music video too, which is sick! If you came and saw us on the Never Shout Never tour in January/February there's a decent chance you're in this video so check it, ya dweeb."
Waterparks is currently in Los Angeles, CA recording the band's debut full-length with Benji Madden (Good Charlotte, 5 Seconds of Summer) and Courtney Ballard (5 Seconds of Summer, All Time Low) - who also produced the band's latest EP, Cluster. The new album is expected to be released in late 2016.
"We are making our first album right now. Holy shit. That's a real thing. We considered a lot of options regarding who we wanted to record the album with, but making Cluster was such a good experience that this easily made the most sense. We honestly don't trust anyone more than Courtney and Benji to help bring these songs to life. Plus, they just bought Will Smith's studio where Rihanna and Justin Bieber have made some crazy albums so that's sick. NO PRESSURE, RIGHT?"
The past year has been truly groundbreaking for the band, who signed to Equal Vision Records, partnered with MDDN co., released a new EP, and embarked on their first ever full US tour supporting Never Shout Never. The band also appeared as direct support on Good Charlotte's US headline reunion shows, performed at SXSW and So What?! festivals and just completed a run of dates in the UK, including a headline show and performances at Slam Dunk Festival. Following their run on the Vans Warped Tour, Waterparks will return to the UK for performances as Reading and Leeds. All upcoming tour dates can be found below.
To date, Waterparks has released three EPs: Cluster (2016), Black Light(2014) and Airplane Conversations (2012). Waterparks is comprised of vocalist/guitarist Awsten Knight, guitarist/vocalist Geoff Wigington, and drummer/vocalist Otto Wood.
Waterparks' lead single from Cluster - "Crave" - debuted via a puppy-filled music video on Billboard.com. It was followed up with the premiere of "Mad All the Time" via AltPress.com. The trio has also seen early support fromBBC Radio 1MTVFUSE and can even be found making a cameo in Good Charlotte's recent music video.
"This year has been weird and fast and tight. We met the Madden's exactly a year ago and we high-key have had a better experience than we could've ever imagined. This year we did our first tour ever, played a bunch of sick sold out shows with Good Charlotte, left the country for the first time ever to play festivals/headline our own show and landed the cover of AP when we don't even have an album out yet. What the fuck. I couldn't have imagined this year going anywhere even CLOSE to this," the band shares. "This time last year...we didn't have anything like this at all. Sorry to get all feelingsy but we feel stupid lucky and we're super thankful for everything that's happened this year. I can't wait for y'all to hear the album. Oh my god. I know artists say this kind of thing all the time but this is easily the bestWaterparks release we've ever written. Except they don't say Waterparks, they say whatever band they're in. THAT'S ENOUGH. YEAH. SEE Y'ALL ON WARPED. BRING YOUR DOG SO I CAN CUDDLE THEM INTO INFINITY. BYE."
