Interviews: Fivefold
In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Post-Hardcore band Fivefold, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We looked through dictionaries, had long discussions - even settled on another name before we came up with Fivefold. It means essentially five different units/things that come together to accomplish one goal. How could you argue with that?
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
I think that rock music has always been very relatable for us. Some of us grew up on it, some of us were just really into it at the time we started our band. Other than that, our style sort of picked us. We never set out to write how we do, it just happens!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We started in 2007. Our late guitarist, Jesse Berlin, was the bridge between Matt Benne and Derrick Huskey. Jesse and Matt went to middle school & high school together as well as living in the same neighborhood. Jesse's older sister dated Derrick back in the day - now they are married!
4. Each band member favourite band?
Ryan (vocals) - Goo Goo Dolls
Matt Amelung (guitar) - It's a tie between Thrice & Smashing Pumpkins.
Derrick (drums) - Underoath
Coco (bass) - Deftones & The Used
Matt Benne (guitar) - Incubus & Mumford and Sons
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We feel like it's such a cop out answer but literally anything and everything can, has and will inspire us to write songs, riffs, lyrics or even basic bird calls. Also, Bruce Willis.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was at a pool party for one our Kickstarter pledges. It ruled.
7. Where would you like to act?
Act? We're going to assume that's a type and you meant "play." We really want to play in Japan because they apparently have the craziest/most enthusiastic fans in music. In the off chance that the question is properly typed, we'd like to act anywhere that Bruce Willis is also acting.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We would like Eddie Van Halen to guest solo on a song to remind us that we'll never be as good as him at guitar...or Bruce Willis.
9. Whom not?
Bruce Willis...because he'd steal the show.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Each member of our band has been spooked before a show at one point or another. The best advice we can give is this, visualize Bruce Willis in the crowd giving you a thumbs up. Works every time.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Different bands inspire different elements of music / music performance for me. Currently, we're really being inspired by bands that are trying to make their music transcend the realm of just audio. Bands that are actively trying to create experiences with their music. Underoath is currently a textbook example of a band doing just that and if you get a chance to see them on their comeback tour, don't miss it.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
We don't want to talk about it.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We have the absolute best fans in the world. They're actually kind of a gang and we hear that they're all getting motorcycles soon.
14. What do you think of our site?
It's great and we appreciate what you're doing to help smaller, up-and-coming bands.
15. Something to add?
2+3 Also, if you haven't already, check out our latest album "Open Letter" on iTunes or everywhere else on the world wide web.
