Interviews: Decades In

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Hardcore/Melodic Hardcore band Decades In, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The idea for our band name came about after many years of playing music with the same lineup of guys. We haven't been in many other bands besides this one. For years we were called "Dennis is Dead" but came to a point in our career where we needed to evolve. "Decades In" is a representation of our musical journey up until this point.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We played alternative pop punk when we started out in 2003. We were introduced to the hardcore scene early on. Everyone was supportive and it is a lot of fun. We love the challenge of writing this type of music because how it sounds and makes you feel.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Three of us have know each other since we were 13 years old. Adam our guitar player is the newest member of the family, we've known him for over 5 years. Originally Adam was just filling in but after seeing how sexy he was and how great he sounded we knew he was here to stay. Lol!

4. Each band member favourite band?

Daniel Song (Vocals) - Green Day, their spirit lives on in me.

Josh Diaz (Bass) - Green day for sure, they are my day one. But at this period in time I would say Architects. really loving their new album.

Adam Montez (Guitar) - My favorite band is System of a Down. The energy you feel from their music always gets me amped!

Michael Heffernan(Drums) -  My favorite band is Howard Stern.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

My bandmates and the experiences we go through always makes for the best songs.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was August 12 at the Rockbar Theatre in Reno, NV. It was the last night of our latest tour.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to be able to tour in another country one day. Wether that be Europe, Japan, Australia. We want to see the world and play our music for anyone who will listen.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

A band we would love to tour with would be The Ghost Inside. Besides being big fans of their music, their perseverance through the enormous obstacles they've been facing is what being in a band is all about. We have so much respect for them.

9. Whom not?

We would be down to tour with anyone!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Stage fright, no! But anxious, yes! Especially on this last tour we did. It has been a while since we had any new material to play and we even added a few different factors to our live show. All these new things can be overwhelming becasue we never know what will happen night in and night out. Overall, we are starting to becoming more comfortable with all the adjustments we have been making.

As far as tips.  I suggest rocking out as hard as you can, like this is going to be your last show. You never know who came to see you or how far someone might have traveled. When you think about it, the audience could have done anything they wanted that night, they could have gone anywhere....but they decided to come watch you play....that is fucking dope and THAT is why YOU should rock out like you will never get to again.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

It ranges far and wide for us! Green Day is an inspiring band because they came from our hometown area and have had the same lineup their entire career. It's a testament that if you work hard and your friendship is strong enough, your band can accomplish anything, even be in the hall of fame. The Ghost Inside is inspiring! Besides being big fans of their music, their perseverance through the enormous obstacles they've been facing is what being in a band is all about. We have so much respect for them.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

The weirdest thing a fan has ever asked is if we wanted to go to their house after the show for a shit, shower, shave....and suck!

Doesn't sound bad on paper but the character this person was made us get the hell out of there quickly!

13. What do you think of your fans?

- To think we have fans is fucking incredible. I am so honored that someone enjoys the music we create. Sometimes being in a band gets tough but seeing just one person respond to your music in a genuine way always makes it worth it.

14. What do you think of our site?
