Interviews: Fitz Roy

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative/Post-Hardcore band Fitz Roy, from Ukraine. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Vlad: We’ve spent a lot of time trying to find the proper band name that will match our music.

Dennis: It is much easier for us to write a song than to name it.

Vlad: Yeah, and one day Alex was looking through the list of mountains on Wikipedia and he noticed it – Fitz Roy. It sounded really awesome after hundreds of stereotypical names we were thinking about.

Alex: You are welcome.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Andrey: We didn’t have a goal to play exact genre. Instead we wanted to play emotional and somewhat aggressive music with melodic choruses. So it just came as it is.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Vlad: We’ve heard of each other before we met since we’re living in quite a small city. And one day Alex just sent me several demos and I loved them.

Andrey: I knew only Vlad before we started playing together.

Alex: Our previous guitarist pulled Dennis from one of local bands, so that is how it started.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Alex: I’m a huge fan of Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach since my childhood.

Dennis: Its Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, baby! Music for all times.

Vlad: There is so much great music available nowadays that it is almost impossible for me to choose just one band. But right now I’m digging Deez Nutz and Twenty One Pilots.

Andrey: Skillet and The Neighbourhood.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Dennis: Inspiration can be found everywhere.

Alex: Definitely. Random life events, emotions and feelings – all this stuff can be used for inspiration. Having bad times? Write a song about it. Feel yourself the happiest person in the world? Write a song.

6. Where was your last gig?

Andrey: Fitz Roy didn’t have any gigs so far. We are working hard to start playing at the concerts in a month or two.

7. Where would you like to act?

Alex: I won’t mind performing at Rock am Ring. :D

Vlad: It’s not about the place but the people you’re performing for. I don’t care much of the place.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Vlad: Freddie Madball. Or Corey Taylor, I love his vocals.

Dennis: Kanye West, why not?

9. Whom not?

Alex: Megadeth vocalist. Dave Mustaine or something like that, don’t remember his name.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Vlad: Who didn’t suffer from it at the very beginning? Show me those guys, I owe them a beer.

Andrey: Band is a very complex system and cooperation of all its components is a process that requires huge efforts. But when this system works without flaws you fear nothing. Be patient, work on music a lot and stage fright won’t make any difference.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Alex: Bring Me the Horizon, Papa Roach and thousands of other great bands.

Vlad: Limp Bizkit with their groove. Also Linkin Park.

Dennis: Norma Jean for sure.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Andrey: Can’t remember any.

Dennis: Me as well. But we’ll definitely have what to tell after several gigs, that is for sure.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Vlad: They are awesome.

Alex: Yeah, without fans and band is worthless, we’re not an exception.

14. What do you think of our site?

Dennis: You’re doing a really great job, guys.

Vlad: Yeah, keep it up.

15. Something to add?

Andrey: Support your local bands. Visit gigs, share their music. They’re doing this music for you. And don’t forget that all top rock stars once were just common dudes from your neighborhood performing in some local rock pub.
