Interviews: Run, Snowball, Run

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Alternative Indie Rock/Post-Hardcore band Run, Snowball, Run, from Canada. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

"Run Snowball Run" dates back to 2008, when it started it was a place I could run or escape to when I felt both happy and sad. After high-school it eventually grew out from a solo-project to a full-on band which had 3 (if not 4) line up changes but it settled around 2013 when the final members started taking place but anywho, the "snowball" aspect of the title came from the idea that it is a growing project and as time goes, the story and the experiences collect themselves leading towards where we will end up.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We didn't choose to play our genre, we still have trouble explaining and picking apart our sound, due to the fact that we are 5 members coming from 5 different influences, after a few months of discussion we were able to agree upon "Post-Alternative Indie-Rock", it's what we think the final mixture tends to sound like!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I (Jeremy) knew Vince (Roy) and Dakota (James Cooke) from high-school, and we came to meet Simon (Bissonnette) and Antoine (Rochefort) afterwards between the final line-up conclusion.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Jeremy Robidoux: Two-way tie between Explosions in the Sky and Prawn.

Simon Bissonnette: The Contortionist. Dakota

James Cooke: A Day to Remember.

Vince Roy: Catfish and the Bottlemen.

Antoine Rochefort: Red Hot Chili Peppers/Nada Surf.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
What we live, what we hear , what we feel, what we see and everything inbetween. We feed off of each other, in a positive nature, and build together. We have a few methods when it comes to composing and building foundational ideas which lead to the final building being our compositions. The five of us have an honest appreciation of both our music and the music that surrounds us and lead to where we are today, which helps with our colour chemistry both on and off stage.

6. Where was your last gig?

At Piranha Bar, A Bar/Venue on Ste-Catherine Street in Montreal, Qc!

7. Where would you like to act?

Sure, we might have a little day dream here and there but we would rather play for the people in the crowd who are open and attentive to our music/sound made from our time and investment into RSR over the years than for a crowd who aren't really appreciative. That said, however, we are still quite excited to get the first official tour in motion aha.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?
The musicians which we look up to and lead to who we are today, to hear their point of view on the road traveled, being able to listen from a current and past kind of perspective.

9. Whom not?

We're open to all sounds and genres, we appreciate practically all music really but out of experience, I guess we wouldn't want to play with musicians who just broke stuff instead of appreciating music.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not really, it helps that I have a little background in theatre which helps with crowd interactions but we try to just be ourselves and respect each other and the ones around us and the energy will respond.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Our Favourite bands mentioned early are good examples and it's hard to pin point specific bands but Vince is more of a classic/modern Rock man, Dakota is mainly influenced from modern metal, Simon is strongly Post influenced and personally I've always felt like Antoine is influenced by Pino Palladino.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

The real weirdest comes from us, I guess the fans are also weird for putting up with our strangeness aha.

13. What do you think of your fans?

The fans in any scenario are the fuel for the machinery to work as a whole, we are all fans of something or someone, which is something almost everyone has in common besides birth and death, and the unknowing of what follows. Hence, the meaning and importance of the fans. They might change but we all do as well, which is fine and normal because without change there cannot be growth and evolution as I noted from the show 'Daria'.

14. What do you think of our site?

Sharp, not over crowded, reaaaal happy to see both Emarosa and DGD stuff there ahah, Cool logo as well. Kudos.

15. Something to add?

We do what we love and we are grateful to be able to do so with the people we love, as my cousin once said "One Love".
