Interviews: Six Time Champion

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Pop Punk  band Six Time Champion, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Not the most interesting story unfortunately, but our drummer Rich was reading the back pages of a newspaper a few years ago, and on the back was a boxing headline which read ‘Six Time Champion’. All the demos we initially wrote were saved under this name and it just kinda of stuck really.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We are all fans of Pop Punk, and all grew up watching our favorite bands, some of which are Pop Punk. I guess when we came together to form STC we wanted to have fun, and Pop Punk is a fun genre to play. So to play some music that we love and music we grew up with made sense.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Myself (Steve) and James have known each other since we were at primary school, Rich and Si had been playing in bands together for a few years and found James when they we're looking for a vocalist for a new pop punk project. James brought me along to the first practice and it all went from there. Hus joined us last year after our other guitarist left to concentrate on uni.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Pinpointing this to just one band is super hard but we would have to go for:

Steve: Boston Manor

Rich: Dead Swans

Simon: Four Year Strong

Hus: Tiny Moving Parts

James: Hands Like Houses

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

When younger we all had musicians and bands we looked up to, but when it comes to inspiration for writing we always want to better what has been written previously. Let Me In was the benchmark for this ep, we felt it was the best track we have ever written so we wanted every track to be as good if not better. So you could say our own track was the biggest inspiration for this ep.

6. Where was your last gig?

Bar 42, Worthing in June. A venue we love playing and have played a few times, always gets extremely sweaty.

7. Where would you like to act?

We have already played one of our favourite venues in the Underworld in Camden, London which was awesome. But I think if we ever got to play in the States, that would top it.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are countless bands we would love to share the stage with; I think the main one for me would have to be A Day to Remember.

9. Whom not?

I can’t say there are really any bands I wouldn’t want to share the stage with at least once. There might be some bands we wouldn’t want to share the stage with again but that is a story for another time!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

James used to get quite nervous before playing a show in the early days of STC, he used to loosen up by having a few beers and seemed to do the trick. Playing shows is similar to a lot of things, the more you play the more confident you get with it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

As said in a previous question, we all had bands we looked up to when younger, I wouldn't say any particular bands inspired us. We just want to write music that we find fun to listen to and fun to perform.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We have never really had any weird requests from fans, I'm not sure if I want that to change to be honest, but I imagine it may happen some day!

13. What do you think of your fans?

I speak for literally every band when we say we love our fans, it's amazing when people relate and enjoy something you worked hard on, makes all the effort worth it.

14. What do you think of our site?

Great website with great articles featuring great bands!
