Interviews: Threatpoint

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Groove Metal  band Threatpoint, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

CJ: Threatpoint was a collaboration of Chris' and my idea. Chris kept coming up with all these names and had the word "threat" in there, which grabbed my attention, so I just generically put the word "point" after it and it seemed to click rather well. 

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

CJ: Metal is something that I think is all in our blood in some form or another... there's no better type of music to get you fired up! 

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

CJ: Alex and myself were in a band called Temptation Denied and coincidentally, we played a few shows with Chris' old band, Dropveil... that's how we knew each other. Matt knew Chris as he almost played bass in his old band and me and Alex knew of Matt as one of our old bandmates went to school with him... small world!

4. Each band member favourite band? 

CJ: For myself, Metallica.

Chris loves Testament, Alex loves Sevendust and Matt loves alot of nu-metal... I don't even think he has an exact favorite. And if I were to go on about ALL of our favorites and bands that influence us, I'd be here all day... this is brief!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

CJ: Reality! The world and the people that inhibit it. Chris writes the lyrics and writes alot about reality and people and the way they act/behave... just basically about life. You'll find no fantasy/fire breathing dragon stuff in our lyrics.

6. Where was your last gig? 

Lyrics in Carbondale, PA opening for our friends in Traverse The Abyss at their cd release show... it was an all ages and it was pretty rad!

7. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

CJ: Relax! I know it can be easier said than done but you can't let nerves get the best of you... then again, it definitley is good to be a little nervous and it'll keep you on your toes. 

8. What bands have inspired you the most? 

CJ: Basically all of our influences inspire us in some way or another. This band always gets compared to Testament, Sepultura, Devildriver and Pantera to name a few... we can sleep just fine to that!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

CJ: Probably if we had interest in giving him one of our hats for a pocketknife... you just can't make that up. Unfortunately, pocketknives don't fill our gas tank!

9. What do you think of your fans? 

CJ: Without them, we're nothing! We're super grateful that we're still doing this almost 5 years later and people are taking to us and demand more... it's an honor.

10. What do you think of our site? 

CJ: Any site that lets the underground have a voice to be hears is ok in my book... keeps it fresh.
