Interviews: From Inside

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Alternative Metal band From Inside, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name came up a few weeks into knowing we had pick one, we knew we really wanted something that was going to be memorable, not too long, but told you who we were. From Inside sort of comes from us all being in bands writing music that didn't mean anything to now writing songs to truly connect to our listeners and with all of our personal experiences and stories. We all have those songs where we might be going through a situation and hear some new song from a band and instantly think it's about you. We wanted to do that, where our fans could completely relate to what we are staying, because it comes from Inside.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

To be honest… we have all been playing in different bands over the last 10-15 years, all of us have pretty much stayed in the metalcore/screamo genre but we wanted to do something a little different. We wanted to be a little bit more easier listening with catchier choruses so our audience could sing along to our songs, but still have something heavy that we all connected with. I remember listening to funeral for a friend and bullet for my valentine and thinking they were heavy but then that got me to listening to even heavier stuff, we sort of want to do that kind of thing where we could be likeable even if you don't like the harsh vocals.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Sort of, From Inside has been a continuation of a band that Tom, Phil and Bam were in together. We decided for a fresh start where we could try to do something different instead of getting stuck in the metalcore scene. Nick and Simon completed the jigsaw in 2016.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Si: Okilly Dokilly

Tom: Architects

Nick: Linkin Park

Phil: Deftones

Bam: Evanescence

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I remember going to see a mates pop punk local band back in 2004 and seeing my friends perform their own songs live blew my mind and I just wanted to do it myself right away. My song writing has completely changed over the years, but listening to anything that will give me goosebumps or seeing a band put on an amazing show always pulls me back to the drawing board.

6. Where was your last gig?

As From Inside as of now we haven't played a show, but our EP release show is on the 6th of Jan in Liverpool. Otherwise our last show together (as our previous band) was about a year and a half ago.

7. Where would you like to act?

I know we really want to travel around a bit and go overseas with our shows. Europe is a must but the US would be amazing. A couple of us have been over there and instantly fell in love with the place. To tour as a band there would be completely insane for us.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Bring Me The Horizon probably, they are mental big now aren't they!

9. Whom not?

We will play with anyone in realistic terms, we have no egos in this band.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Honestly yes I'm pretty sure all of us have or still do at some point. For me, if we are one of the later bands playing I can't relax, I just want to get on stage right away. I could go for a piss before going on stage and feel like I'd need to go again right before walking on, but it's worth it. Being on stage performing in front of people is the best feeling ever. I'm never nervous about how many people are there or who might be watching, I just know that I am going to love the next 30 minutes and I feel like my body is going into overload haha. As for tips, take your time setting up, don't rush but don't take annoyingly forever, get to know your equipment so you know if something goes wrong, you know how to fix it. While the band before you are on, drink water, stretch and make sure you're prepared. As long as your calm because you know everything is going to work correctly you can enjoy yourself. The audience aren't scary, they're standing there because they want to watch you, that will make you feel amazing, so embrace it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I'm going to say Linkin Park right up, who never listened to Linkin Park in high school? After seeing more nu metal bands pop up over the last few years and now seeing bring me the horizons huge change in genres over the last 10 years it just seemed like bringing something old school back to the table was something that could work. Any bands who can put on an amazing live performance also inspires us, and between the 5 of us I'm sure there will be a huge list of bands.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

For us we have yet to meet any of our fans in person, we get odd messages from time to time. But I remember being on tour in Scotland once probably about 6 years ago and some kid came over to us before a show saying that he loved our band and really wanted to perform on stage with us. We were like oh sick, this kid knows our songs. We asked him what he wanted to do and he said guitar so we were like yeah man if you really want to do it I'm sure we can work something out. During sound check we asked what song he wanted to play and he'd said some Metallica song… we were like no, which one of our songs did you want to play? He just kept on saying Metallica, can we play a Metallica song. Obviously we declined but it was so odd. Afterward he came back asking to do vocals instead… I can't remember if that went down or he just did his own thing.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are amazing, we have sent out so many tshirts over the last year since releasing our 1st song ‘Find My Way’. We couldn't believe how much attention we got from just one song. We have been getting messages every week asking when more material will be out and up until recently we had to keep everything secret because we had so many set backs durning the recording process, we honestly didn't know when our ep was going to be out. Since announcing everything and releasing another song we have had nothing but positive comments/messages. It's really been amazing. We just want to get going now and meet them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Awesome! The core community need to stick together and you offer a great home for that to happen. Keep up the great work guys.
