Interviews: Mate's Fate
In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Mate´s Fate, from France. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We were together in Nico’s (the drummer) apartment we put in front of us the lyrics of the five songs of the EP got some beer and started brainstorming on some possible name for the band. It took us 3 hours, but at the end, we found the name Mate’s Fate, which was the closest to the atmosphere we convey in our songs and it fit us well because we all are close to our friends.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We all want to play this genre for different reasons but it’s something that’s always been part of our musical experience. We all listened to this type of music during our high school period and stuff so it was never really far. But I think the main reason is the atmosphere and the feeling you can communicate with this type of music. And from time to time it’s always fun to go into the pit.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Some of us did. Nico (drum) and Matt (singer) were in a band in high school together and they know Tib’ag (bass) for a long time and wanted to be in a band with him for quite some time too. As for me (Yoan guitar) and Quentin (guitar) we met in our previous band (Whisper the Pain) where we played together for a year and a half and we did the audition for Mate’s Fate approximately at the same time that’s where we met Matt and Nico and later Tib’ag. Question
4. Each band member favourite band?
Matt: Rammstein for the show they put together and how strong their music is.
Nico: Slipknot. It’s because of Joey Jordisson I began drum.
Tibag: if it’s in Metal it’s Gojira, but I’m also a really big fan of electro music so in this genre it would be Opuio.
Quentin: We Came as Roman.
Yoan: Trivium.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Our daily life and the different obstacle we came out of over the year. Our experience in general is what inspire us to write our songs.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was our release party on a boat in Lyon that’s called La Marquise It was really amazing because we sold out the gig and the people who were here were here for us so it was really something special.
7. Where would you like to act?
In theater… Coming soon! No, we would like to play in big festival like the Hellfest Openair or the Download festival it would be amazing to play in front of so many people.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Someone like Sam Carter form Architect would be really cool, they are really an amazing band.
9. Whom not?
I don’t know someone like Maitre Gims.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
All of us have suffered from it and I think it’s fair to say that anybody who has been on the stage has suffered from it. It’s a natural part of a show and you come out of your show and you’re happy about what you did on stage it’s really an amazing feeling.
To beat stage fright I think you should come on stage as prepared as possible and when you get there give everything you got. One really good advice is also to never get on stage drunk or high. You will think what you’re doing is amazing, but it really is not.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Bands like Architect, Beartooth, While She Sleep… They have an amazing talent and they are truly at the top of these genres.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Not with these band, but Matt got the privilege once to sign a pair of boobs.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They’re really amazing… We did a kisskissbankbank campaign to help us with the bill for all the goodies the Ep and everything we wanted to do and we went over a 170% of our goal it was truly amazing.
14. What do you think of our site?
You have some cool feature like the track by track part.
15. Something to add?
We a lot of projects that are already on track… There will be a new music video this year we’re currently writing our first album. We can’t wait to see everybody at our show!
