Interviews: Amarah

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band Amarah, from Canada. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

So Joe, our actual drummer, started looking for a cool city name in the middle east since he always love the band names like The Sainte-Catherines. We stop at Amarah, an actual Irak city that means concrete. For a doom, sludge, post-metal band, its sound cool.

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

All our songs were tuned in B. It’s just seem natural. We all listenning to many different genres and even within the genre of metal music, we have not all listened to the same bands of music. We finally get together and finally make the post metal as if we wanted to further deepen the genre. I think post metal, post hardcore, doom metal ect… are the future of heavy metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Joe and Pierre meet each other in another music project we had with our same tattoo artist. Then we found Phil that Joe knew at University because they did at the same time a master in political science.

4. Each band member favourite band? 

Pit: PNL a French cloud rap group

Joe: Neurosis

Phil: Slipknot

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Pit: In my other bands the lyrics were always stories invented as if it were movies. With Amarah I have no place for scenario or pleasure. The lyrics deal mainly with the condition of the individual in society professionally or socially. I am very inspired by loneliness I'm afraid it can kill you to small fire and make you suffer for many years.

Joe: My interactions with people. For me, emotions come from sharing with other people. This emotion inspire me for every song I wrote.

Phil: its really a "carpe diem" thing, you know, just to enjoying the moment, while you stroke a guitar.. There's riff that can come to you, but for the most part, they seems incompletes and thats when the input of the of the bandmates makes all the sense.

6. Where was your last gig? 

Never did a gig yet with Amarah but 2017 it’s our year

7. Where would you like to act? 

Pit: Ontario

Joe: L’esco !

Phil: Katacombes

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

Pit and Joe: Le kraken, le Kraken and le Kraken

Phil: Something trashy, like Leftover Crack

9. Whom not? 

Pit: For me personally person. I would like to play with Éric Lapointe to tell you.

Joe: Metallica ! (long story in the band )

Phil: Dunno

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

Pratice and practice and yes practice !!

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Pit: Le Kraken, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath Public Enemy, Boo ya tribe, Body Count

Joe: Jeff Rosenstock, Neurosis, Converge

Phil: Slipknot, Metallica, Pennywise, The Sainte-Catherines, Rage, Rollings stones, the offsprings...

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Pit: I had sex with a girl after a gig back in the days. Not too bad haha

13. What do you think of your fans? 

Pit: We don’t know them ah Do we have fan ?? hahah
