Interviews: Coast To Coast
In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Pop Punk band Coast To Coast, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Alex: We actually used to be called Homebound. We decided to change it when we started hearing about Homebound (The actual one!) and it’s a good job we did really because those guys are doing really well!
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Kei: Growing up listening to pop punk bands is obviously the initial reason, but there is something about the DIY pop punk scene that makes it special for me, the sense of community and passion that thrives is great.
Zak: I find it quite enjoyable playing the genre we do, our live set usually contrasts between really energetic moments and those that are more chilled out. It’s nice having a balance of both
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Alex: Me, Josh, Zak and Jake all went to the same school together (and Zak and Josh are brothers) and we met Kei through Facebook, we where looking for a singer for our band and he came down to try out and he was just sick!
4. Each band member favourite band?
Alex: I think I’m obliged to say Blink 182, I grew up on them. But at the moment I’m listening to You Me at Six’s new album a lot!
Kei: Real friends.
Zak: I’m really into Anderson Paak & The Free Nationals at the moment.
Josh: King blues probably!
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Kei: The determination to push my self and make something that may resonate with people who listen.
Alex: So many songs have helped me through bad and good times. I’d love to write songs that other people connect to like I have with other tracks!
6. Where was your last gig?
Zak: The Bullingdon in Oxford for Better Than Never’s EP launch. I always love playing that venue.
7. Where would you like to act?
Kei: Anywhere to anyone!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Alex: I think we’d all have different people we’d love to have feature on our tracks. For me it’d be Tom Delonge just to see what it’d sound like. He doesn't really do much of it so that’d be super cool.
9. Whom not?
Nothing to answer here.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Kei: Even though we've played 60 plus gigs I still get a bit nervous before going on stage, but once I'm on stage it completely disappears, so I'd say just stick it out and let your passion for music overtake any negative feelings.
Zak: I’ve definitely been nervous before playing some shows, I always think it’s best to try to turn the nerves into energy on stage.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Alex: For this EP I’d say, Lower Than Atlantis, Pentimento and Moose Blood.
Kei: Real friends and Deaf Havana for me.
Zak: I like how bands like Modern Baseball and The Front Bottoms just kind of do their own thing without caring about what people listening may think. I think doing it for yourself is the best thing with music.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Alex: Once someone asked us for a set list, witch isn't weird at all, but he was super drunk and was asking us all to sign it and barged into the back stage room of the venue!
13. What do you think of your fans?
Kei: We don't really have fans as such mainly people who dig our music and then we get to know them, but anyone who listens to are music, we are extremely appreciative of.
14. What do you think of our site?
Alex: It’s great, I love what you do for smaller bands like us!
15. Something to add?
Alex: If you made it all the way to this last question then you must take interest in our band and I just want to say thanks so much for your support!
