News: Acoustic Alt-Rock Songwriter RORY LAVELLE Signs with Muddy Paw PR

Belfast's Rory Lavelle is the latest artist to sign with Muddy Paw PR, and is set to release his debut full-length, 'Waves' in April 2017. 'Waves' was written, arranged, performed and recorded by Rory himself, with a bit of help from some dedicated friends.

Rory credits his upbringing in a small town in Ireland for leading to what would become a life-long career and devotion to music. At a young age, he found himself infatuated with the spirited sounds of 60's pop-rock, and as he grew older he found himself consumed with a passion for music. This time with a guitar in hand, singing his original songs.

'Waves' reflects where we are right now with the state of government, the daily media exposure of corruption, greed and violence and the general numbness and apathy in society," explains Rory. "Lyrically the songs delve into my darkest thoughts and the fears and insecurities we all experience with stories of human fragility, tipping points and the pressures of modern living. Of course there's the odd ray of sunshine to set the balance, in fact the instrumentation is contradictory to the dark subject matter with lush strings, piano and harmonies taking center stage. Much like life itself, the darkness is only there when you seek it out.”

With opening for Ian Brown and packing Ulster Hall already under his belt, Rory is on the fast track to success. Humble beginnings and a true passion for his art is what keeps him going. When asked by a friend once if his music was a hobby or a job Rory answered, "It’s neither. It simply is." It's that modest spirit that is the essence of Rory's music.

While each track on 'Waves' offers something different, they all share Rory's soulful, eloquent songwriting and impressive musicianship. "Poor Pride", the album's second single, will premiere this February.
