Interviews: Black Light
In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Black Light, from Italy. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came
out just like that?
It came quite by itself, we guess we wanted a name which represented the different aspects of the music we’re playing. The “Black” represents the darkness that we feel in our music, playing what we play is a way to turn that darkness, the pain, the stress, and all the negative energy into something we’re proud of, while the “Light” is our ally raising us on our path to realise your dreams. This light is what we stick to to keep going on and achieve ourselves.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Metalcore is a perfect mix between heaviness and melody, which makes us link every aspect of what comes out of , it’s balanced, and you can find everything I need when you listen to it, like a full meal! The synchronism between drums, bass and guitar is what gives to the breakdown its depth shot ,every instant is impacting, like pure adrenaline, and when the melody comes, it’s chilling, intimate, the other side of happiness.
3.Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Mattia: We didn’t actually, except for Nicholas and I. We’re brothers and the project started as the result of the passion we share for music. The line-up changed various times before we met Lou, who left his home in France to join us. Matteo came two years later and gave this band the stability it needed. In the end, every step came in its right time.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Mattia: Asking Alexandria, and Architects.
Nicholas: Asking Alexandria too, and Bad Omens.
Matteo: Mudvayne and Caliban.
Lou: Stone Sour and Slipknot.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We’re mostly inspired by our personal life experience and the perceptions of any kind of thing that we could feel around us, which can come in any time. It can be a memory of someone , or a feeling settled into our mind which could make us feel like aliens in a world which have everything already set. Our lyrics often talk about personal and social topics. Like anxiety, rejection, anger, hate. We throw all this stuff out of ourselves, and convert it into music. You know, when you write you don’t think about it, you just catch the moment in which your mind goes on the right way, like “this is how we feel, now deal with it!’
6. Where was your last gig?
The last gig that we played it was at “Circolo Colony” in Brescia, Italy. It was kind of some time ago, but it’s one of those which marked us the most. We thank everyone who were there, and love the feedback everyone gave us, it was a really special time.
7. Where would you like to act?
In as much places we can! We hope this path will allow us to travel the world and make us bring something special from every different audience with us.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Nicholas&Mattia: of course Asking Alexandria!
Lou: Corey Taylor, It’s my dream to share a stage with him.
Matteo: Anyone who could give us a growing experience.
9. Whom not?
Every autotune user! Okay that was a nasty joke, we don’t hate any artist in particular, every experience will could get into is welcomed and could make us evolve.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
You always feel at little nervous the first time, but we’ve alway find the way to manage it. The crowd is not here to take you down, and when we see it, we just feel grateful, the fact that they’re here to listen to us, to share the gig with us and to appreciate our music makes us love them. fearing them would be a contradiction, and when you play music, if you concentrate on what it makes you feel, you don’t worry about the eyes pointed on your face. You just appreciate them.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Mattia: The band that inspire us are Asking Alexandria, Architects, Miss May I, Bad Omens, Emmure, and every band like them who keeps Metalcore’s identity alive.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Oh we actually have some weird proposal, like joining illuminati and shit like this. But of course everything were jokes and everyone ended up laughing about that. You know Metal in general can be stereotyped, but the better way to take it away is turning these stereotypes into something funny.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We love our fans ,anyone who could support us is the blood who keeps this project alive, and gives it the chance to go on.
14. What do you think of our site http://www.breathingthecore.com ?
