Interviews: Cosmos

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Hardcore/Djent band Cosmos from Brazil. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

Instead of all people think, when this name came in my mind, i did not know the series “Cosmos” of Netflix, you know? But i was always passionate for space, stars, galaxies, planets, etc, and the genre we play, “djent” is characterized for ambiences and it has a big synergy with the style. For me, it’s the perfect name for us.

2. Why did you want to play this genre? 

I was influenced by bands like Born Of Osiris, Periphery, Monuments, Vitalism, etc, and i knew one day i would need to play something like that, because i loved them since the first time.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Yes! Edu Garcia (drummer) and I have another band called John Wayne here in Brazil for the last 10 years. And Fifas, the bassist had other metalcore band here called Aurora Rules and we played a lot of times together.

4. Each band member favourite band? 

It’s a hard question, huh! It’s hard to choose just one, but i think all of us would choose Pantera, for sure.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Just love for music. We love playing, making new music and writing. In times like these, if you don’t love what you do, you will give up.

6. Where was your last gig? 

We never played live before. Cosmos is a band founded in january 2016 and we are making things calmly to make the better we can. Our first show ever will be in august, here in São Paulo with the monsters of Vitalism and Linen Cent.

7. Where would you like to act? 

We have many fans in the US and Europe. It would be a pleasure for us play in those places soon. If some booking agent sees this interview, we are opened to play in your country.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We love Periphery. It would be sick to feature with them one day.

9. Whom not? 

I don’t know, i think we don’t have a defined preference in this case and we can feature with any band in our genre.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

Yes, of course. In the beginning i used to be very anxious, sometimes i threw up before a show. Very serious. My tip is: be prepared. Over practice and the fear will prevail for the first minute only. I promise. It worked for me. Be prepared for the show, always.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Periphery, Monuments, Gojira, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Pantera, Angra, Megadeth, Machine Head and many others, but these are the main bands we like.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

I don’t remember nothing weird now.

13. What do you think of your fans? 

We love them. They are very warm and near us. The most of them really support us since the beginning and we love it. Really. It’s very gratifying for us.

14. What do you think of our site?

Awesome. We knew BTC website some days ago and really loved it. You have supported lots of bands and artists, helping them to publish their stuff and it’s very important, specially for independent bands as we are. Incredible, congratulations!!
