Interviews: Die So Fluid
In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Punk/Rock band Die So Fluid from USA/UK. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
I found our name at the bottom of a pint glass. I’m not being metaphorical either. I literally had a beer in this bar we used to go to in Kentish Town and at the bottom was someone’s business card. The only words that were legible were Die So Fluid. I think the logo on the card looked like a plumber.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Only genre left after taking experimental speed ragga to its logical conclusion. You can still hear its influence in some of our songs. Also I was born naturally gothic looking so venturing into any of the hard rock genres saves a bit down at boots when I’m buying makeup.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Drinking buddies quite literally to the end.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Deftones - they are the best , why settle for less?
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The universe is full of inspiration. On our latest album , Our fifth by the way, you will be lectured on topics as diverse as Religious Dogma, Superheroes, Fatalism and anatomically illustrative evening attire.
6. Where was your last gig?
The Whiskey , Sunset Strip. That is actually true so thanks not for asking just after we last played the Leopard in Doncaster.
7. Where would you like to perform?
The Great wall of China. We have to run the aforementioned Skeleton Suit lyrics past the Chinese Government but on the chinese version of the CD we’ve removed the bit where we sing ‘Chairman Mao was a meany!’ so hopefully we’ll get our
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
I’d like to travel back in time and play at Reading festival 1992. We’ll take Nick Cave’s place just before Nirvana. Nick Cave really is a shocking Elvis impersonator someone should have stopped him back then.
9. Whom not?
Oh we’ll take any gig if the money’s right and it doesn’t draw blood.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Still do. The only way to beat it is to not stop gigging then what is extraordinary becomes ordinary and you can focus less on people staring and judging and just enjoy playing music.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Pixies, Cure, Depeche Mode, Black Sabbath
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
The album's to be pressed on vinyl. Really? You’re going to put that on your ‘gramophone’ hipster? Do you know how much it costs to press a run of vinyl so ten of you can put it on a shelf and then carry on listening on Spotify? TBH I’d quite like them on vinyl too. Very conflicted on this one.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They are family and really the reason for carrying on is so they will stop giving me shit on the Twitter.
14. What do you think of our site?
Well it could do with a bit more colour. Maybe a nice DSF banner on the front page in red, green and gold?
15. Something to add?
A dash of Worcester Sauce every time.
