Interviews: Gallows Circus

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band Gallows Circus  from UK. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

It’s a reference to things that people do for entertainment. Like how people

used to go to see hangings! Also we didn’t want to sound too generic which

is a challenge nowadays as so many names are already in use. We like the way

the darkness of the word ‘Gallows’ is lightened up with ‘Circus’ making it a

bit quirky!

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

It was a no brainer really, as all of us grew up listening to blues and rock and hitting our teens in the grunge scene! It’s just embedded in us.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Yes, but not really well. I (Ian) had jammed with Steve years ago. Jim, I had never heard play but was always intrigued by our conversations about music whenever we bumped into each other about town and Rich knew Steve. But none of us had heard him play so it was a pleasant surprise!

4. Each band member favourite band? 

Ian – Blind Melon

Steve – Thin Lizzy

Rich – Led Zeppelin

Jim – Stevie Ray Vaughn 

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Life. Always. And hearing great music!

6. Where was your last gig? 

Fiddlers Elbow, London.

7. Where would you like to play? 

Ramblin’ Man Festival!

8. Who would you like to support?  

Guns N’ Roses would be pretty epic!

9. Who not? 

Right Said Fred. lol

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

Nothing debilitating! But I’d say when I started gigging in my teens that was pretty terrifying. The only way to get over it is to realise that everyone has to go through it to get used to it and just do it. Initiation by fire so to speak. Maybe start small at some open mic nights where there’s less pressure!

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Me personally? Blind Melon, Silverchair, Free, Rage Against The Machine, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Reef…I could go on forever! Lol

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Haha that’s a great question. Although so far there’s been nothing particularly strange! 

13. What do you think of your fans? 

I think the fans are the most important people in this industry and sometimes don’t get enough credit. Without them musicians would be out of a job! And doing a show with an audience that digs your music…that’s one of the greatest feelings ever and the whole reason we play music!

14. What do you think of our site?

Fantastic! It’s great to see people that actually want to help promote new music as there is so much talent out there that is undiscovered! Cool playlist too! Wink wink nudge nudge! lol
