Interviews: Letters Sent
In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore/Melodic Hardcore band Letters Sent from Germany. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Kristofer had the idea for the band name while he was listening to the song "Bled Out" by Defeater. There is this line "I feel the distance in your letters sent". The other band members also liked the song, so it was decided to go along with the idea.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
It's just the power and energy in this kind of music. Especially at live shows - the contrast between melodic parts and aggressive breakdowns. The number of facettes is immense so we have a big spectrum to let creativity flow. This also reflects our attitude towards life, as the content is mostly about the processing and controversies of everyday life. You could include private emotional aspects as well as society critical issues.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Basically, everyone got to know each other through making music. Kristofer, Moritz and Andy have been playing together for many years. Micha and Bastien are members for a few months.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Sorry, too hard to choose only one band
Andy: Alexisonfire / Architects
Bastien: Hot Water Music / Boysetsfire
Kristofer: Linkin Park / Alexisonfire
Moritz: BMTH (Old stuff) / Defeater
Micha: TesseracT / Set your goals
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Generally, it just happens. You cannot plan creativity. But it’s a good outlet to musically deal with different topics. As written before, we can process individual emotional topics as well as topics about everyday life and living together as a society. It’s nice to simply switch off from daily treadmill and to get thoughts out of your mind. When the flow kicks in, it’s a bit like stupefying, we are like on a wave through the music.
6. Where was your last gig?
That was our EP release at Werk 2/Halle 5 in our hometown Leipzig with The Sleeper and our friends Abort Once Around. What a blast!
7. Where would you like to act?
Impericon Festivals, With Full Force Festival
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Not a specific one in the genre - so many amazing bands out there. If we could choose, then Katy Perry or Scooter ;)
9. Whom not?
Basically we would be open to perform with every musician, no matter of genre.
We would never play with bands or at festivals with a racist background.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Always suffering or enjoying. It depends on how you deal with it. In the end, it pushes your ability for performance. We just all get together before the start of the show and push or calm down each other. For beginners: Don´t drink too much before the show and have a short vocal or instrumental warm up backstage. With a bigger routine you start to enjoy this heart beating and excitement.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Performance: Gallows / Story of the year / Emery / Twenty One Pilots
Music: Alexisonfire / Polar / Architects / Stray from the Path / Limp Bizkit
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
So far, we haven't got weird question, but we’re looking forward to get some!
13. What do you think of your fans?
They created a fanpage beside our own channels, organize themselves that they are able joining our shows and giving always constructive feedback afterwards. We are proud to have such a fanbase and appreciate anyone who supports us!
14. What do you think of our site?
Always up to date and give unknown bands like us a platform. What a great page for the entire community!
15. Something to add?
