Interviews: NORTHWOODS

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Post-Hardcore band NORTHWOODS from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

Jon Ellen: Northwoods was a project that Zach (Brennan) tried to do a few years ago that never really got off the ground. When we came together to talk about names, Northwoods came up again and it was the one that really stuck with all of us.

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

Ellen: We all have pretty wide tastes in music, with this band we try to bring forth our favorite elements of a lot of different styles. Our sound doesn’t quite fit any one genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Ellen: We all knew Zach either from work or from old bands, all of us were looking to start a new project and he connected us all together.

Zach: The Chariot

Anthony: Counterparts

Jon: Grandview

Nacho: Alcest

Derek: AC/DC

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Ellen: We’re inspired by our own lives and experiences, as well as listening to other artists and being excited about what they’re doing. We all love music and what we do, and the emotion really connects us to the world.

6. Where was your last gig? 

Ellen: We had a show in Poughkeepsie, NY in January but it was canceled due to the weather, hoping to get back out there soon!

7. Where would you like to act? 

Ellen: Everywhere! We’ll be playing a lot of new areas this year across the US and Canada.

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

Ellen: We’re stoked to have Bradley Walden (Emarosa) on our new single On Loss (Release Date: March 8th) . In the future, we’d love to feature more of our favorite artists or artists outside of the alternative scene.

9. Whom not? 

Ellen: Adam Levine!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

Ellen: Anthony (Rolli) always gets stage fright and anxiety, but when he hits that first note none of it matters.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Zach: Crooks.

Anthony: Counterparts, Title Fight, Crooks, Movements, Casey, Balance & Composure, Defeater.

Jon: Citizen, Saves The Day, Being As An Ocean, Carly Rae Jepsen, Have Heart

Nacho: Led Zeppelin, Turnstile, Incendiary, Alcest

Derek: Clyde Stubblefield, Steve Jordan, Mike Kennedy, Elliot Babin

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Ellen: We once had someone ask if they could join our band!?

13. What do you think of your fans?

Ellen: The people who support us are really the reason we’re able to continue to do this band and travel at all, so we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helps or supports us in any way.

14. What do you think of our site?

Ellen: ‘Breathing The Core’ is a great platform for people to learn of new music, get updates on some great bands, and just interact. We're really stoked to be a part of it now!
